For a moment, I did nothing but stare down at the blankness—then slowly, deliberately, dipped my brush into water, then dark ink.
And with it, I began to sketch.
Kael’s eyes came first.
I always started there—those wide, storm-glass eyes rimmed in soft lashes that blinked too quickly when nervous and crinkled at the corners when he smiled. They weren’t just eyes to me. They were Kael’s whole soul—kind, untamed, breakable. Honest.
I shaded gently, slowly, as though afraid I might bruise the memory if I pressed too hard.
The curve of Kael’s brows next. The slight dip of his nose. The fullness of his bottom lip, always slightly parted when he was lost in thought, always soft when he laughed.
