But the line went dead before he could finish his question.
“Hello? Hello?” Frank called, but he knew it was pointless. The caller had hung up. He took a deep breath, glancing back at the mansion one last time before turning and walking toward the gate, his mind racing.
Once he reached the gate, he hailed a cab and gave the driver directions to the abandoned warehouse. The ride was long, stretching into the late evening. By the time they pulled up to the street, shadows had fallen over the city, and the air was thick with an eerie silence.
