“Dante, I know we’ll do what Dario wants you to do. But if we go to my house, promise me that you won’t leave me there.” He slapped his fist against his chest. “You have my sworn promise.” Swallowing, I nodded. “I trust you.”

A tinkling laugh escapes her lips as she wipes her eyes, and my smile widens. In my arms, Ramona yells, "Maaa!" Lou laughs again. "This is perfect," she continues. "I never thought I could be this happy. But I am, because of you. And I promise I'll try to make every day of the rest of our lives just as happy for you. I promise to find you if you ever get lost. I promise to trust you with my deepest fears and protect you from yours in return. And I promise to never ever give you anything less than my whole heart."

He was getting under my skin and I didn’t want to have him know it. “We don’t know if I am pregnant yet and there is no way in hell that you are going to tell me what to do” I retorted. “I said that you are not going back to your old pack simply because it is not safe there. Promise me that my life , our life together will be perfect.” “I promise you” I tell her , and I stare at the ceiling. I am smiling. I must look like an idiot right now, because my jaws are hurting because of this large stupid smile I have on my face, but I can’t stop myself from smiling. I am happy.

“I wish I could, really I do. Unfortunately, I still have some matters to deal with. I promise, once I’m done with things, I will have plenty of time to play with you two.” “Really? You promise?” “No, she won’t,” I heard Helix mutter, low enough to seemingly not be heard by Hailey. I held a pinky up at the girl, bringing hope to her face. “Pinky promise. This is what humans do to keep promises in a friendly way, right?” Her face turned brighter, as Hailey wrapped my pinky around with her own. “Yeah!” “Really? You hadn't disappointed me and I won't disappoint you. My cheeks heated up at his insinuation, he was happy with my performance last night, and to be honest with myself, I felt happier too. The thought of not being judged but appreciated for something like that made me want to laugh. I raised my pinky, "Pinky promise?" He looked between my pinky and my face before raising his and entwining it with mine, "Pinky promise..." I smiled, "You know if you break a promise, I have every right to bite your pinky off and eat it."
