When she was sure they were alone, she lowered the weapon, thumbed the safety, and slid it back into the holster with the same smooth grace she’d used to draw it.
“Put your mask back on,” she said. Her voice was calm, almost detached. “Now.”
He blinked. “What?”
“You heard me. Mask. Jacket. You were never here.”
“Sasha—”
“Now, Nico.”
He stared at her another heartbeat, then did as she ordered. The mask went back on, erasing him until he was just another faceless shadow in a servant’s uniform. She crossed the floor, grabbed his wrist, and pressed something cold into his palm—the small glass of champagne he’d been carrying when he came in.
