The Alpha Forgets
Decker’s jaw tightened just slightly.
“They’re not subtle,” Lotty murmured.
“They’re not meant to be,” he replied.
The vehicles came to a stop at the base of the steps. For a second, everything went still. Then the doors opened. Alpha Morgan stepped out first.
He was older than Decker mid-fifties, Lotty guessed but there was nothing diminished about him. Broad shoulders, controlled movements, the kind of presence that came from years of leading and surviving. His hair was streaked with gray at the temples, his expression sharp and assessing as his gaze swept the packhouse, the guards, the territory.
