“Sweetheart, Mommy is calling,” he whispered, hugging my neck tightly. I held him close for a moment, then asked where Mommy and his sister were. He pointed, and I gently set him down before walking in that direction.
I saw them by the shore, collecting seashells where the water met the sand. Mireille looked up and saw me.
“We found a jellyfish,” she said carefully. “Mommy told me not to touch it or it could sting me.” I smiled and kissed the top of her head, letting her continue playing.
