When she gave birth to you, she noticed that your tears seemed to be different and glowing. She ran some tests and learned that your tears can heal. My father was heavily infected to the point that his whole body was affected by that disease, so he became dependent on your tears. No one knew about your tears but my father and your parents.

The echoes of joy reverberated, creating a melody that spoke of unity, love, and the unwavering spirit that defined the pack. (Clara's POV) The light in the deep forest was growing dimmer with every step. I'd been walking alone for nearly four hours. In the dark soil directly ahead, a cluster of plants glowed with a faint silver light. Moongrass. The Black Moon Pack's ancient records were clear: Moongrass and the Tears of the Moon Goddess always grew together. The Tears had to be within a mile of this spot. All I had to do was find the Tears and swallow them. The mate bond would be severed completely. I'd be free.

We turn at the same time to see Luka stepping out from the forest, his gold-tinted curls blowing about his face, his brown eyes wide with wonder at the sight of the river. He walks past, still not seeing us. Darius and I look at each other, then scramble up to follow him. Luka stops at the top of the river embankment. He passes his hand over his eyes. When he drops his hand again, he opens his eyes and they are a milky grey colour. The glow disappears from the sky and in the darkness a full moon rises. Not just any moon. I recognize this moon. So pale, so clear, it appears as if behind a layer of ice. The first full moon of the new year. The Wolf Moon.

Silently praying to the Moon Goddess to save her from her nightmares.
