GIVE ME EVERYTHING

GIVE ME EVERYTHING

He opened his front door, barely catching himself from stumbling backward. “You miserable, rotten bastard! You fucking asshole! I should kill you right now and be done with you!” “What the hell…” Cam poked him hard in the chest, her short but sharp fingernail almost tearing through his shirt. “Lanah is lying in the hospital right now, black and blue, three broken bones, and a partial concussion… All because of you! And you’re going around like nothing happened… Like you never knew or cared for her… Like you never heard her telling you she loved you… Screw you, Darius King!” Cam yelled as she poked him again.

Another amazing book by Emma Swan. I really enjoyed it. This book is well written, but could use another pass at editing. It's edited very well compared to other books in the app, but compared to her other books, which are usually perfect, it needs a bit of editing. Other than that, it's perfection.

Always you

Always you

I never want to be the one to tell mom where I work. A whole lot of things went through my mind as I drove down to Jake's restaurant called King's diner. What if mom finds out about my place of work, what is she going to say, what is she going to do. I just let all those thoughts rest at the back of my mind, I will deal with the situation when it comes up. I walked down to the counter, which is where my work post will be, as I am the cashier. I saw Jake walking out from the kitchen area to the dinning area, I walked up to him, greeted him with all the strength in me, maybe because I was nervous or maybe he was looking too handsome to be real. I was blabbing and called him boss, Jake looked a

I stumbled on a retelling of 'Seribu Satu Malam' last year, a novel by Okky Madasari. It's not the classic frame story most people expect. It transplants the essence—a woman telling stories to survive and critique power—into modern Jakarta. The protagonist, Samira, is trapped in a luxurious but oppressive marriage to a powerful politician. To reclaim her voice and autonomy, she starts telling him stories every night, much like Scheherazade, weaving tales that subtly mirror and challenge their own reality.

What stuck with me was how it uses the ancient structure to dissect contemporary Indonesian politics and gender dynamics. The stories-within-the-story aren't fantastical adventures; they're sharp, political allegories about corruption, social injustice, and the struggles of the marginalized. It's a slow-burning, cerebral read. The 'plot' is less about external action and more about the psychological warfare and reclamation of narrative space. The ending is ambiguous—you're left wondering if Samira's stories actually changed anything, or if the act of telling them was the victory in itself.
