The crystal was no larger than her hand. It shimmered with dozens of colors beneath the cave's light. "For evidence," she said matter-of-factly, slipping it into her backpack. "In case anyone ever believes us." I raised an eyebrow. "You assume we're getting out." She smiled. "I have to." Otherwise... Neither of us wanted to finish that sentence. Young enough that most people still saw her as one of the Academy's junior assistants rather than an important member of its expansion team.
