It was Alpha King Dantes who spoke with his eyes squinting more in anger. “And how could you say so, Alpha King Dantes?” the Rogue Alpha retorted in a mocking tone again. “Because someone already claimed her and marked her. Her real mate, idiot!” the Alpha King said laughingly, insulting the Rogue Alpha. The Rogue Alpha looks at Andreitte and his eyes suddenly caught the mark on her neck. His eyes squinted. "Who the hell, claimed and marked her?!" he shouted with rage.

LAIKA "I, King Icarus Albert, king of the Markat kingdom, vow from today henceforth, to be in alliance with you, Alpha Karim Wolfe of the Titan pack. Your people are welcome in our kingdom and shall never be treated unkindly. Our women shall mate with your men, and our men shall mate with your women."

The mutated Alpha was wrenched away from me suddenly and I fell back heavily into the cold wall, catching a glimpse of the rogue’s rakish wolf as he slammed his fist into the Alpha’s face with a sickening crunch. “Traitor!” Alaric gurgled, barely having the time to react as Klein Markov’s fist moved in a blur, his thick hands and feet trapping the Alpha beneath him before he pressed a claw greedily at the Alphas throat. “FREEZE! NOBODY MOVE! Raise that sword nice and high Markov, or the pretty wench here loses her head.” Alfred Ahmad’s sinister voice rang across the grassy foyer and I blinked at his boxy frame emerging from what was left of the cabin’s embers.

For a second, the silence felt like the forest itself was holding its breath. “Come again?” “I’ve seen the mark. The crescent. Same placement, same shape. They share a father, don’t they?” Marla’s mouth tightened. She looked older suddenly like just hearing the question aged her a decade. “I helped deliver them both,” she said at last. “Years apart. Different mothers. But same eyes. Same temper. Same damn mark.” I sat down. My heart thudded once, hard. “Who was he?” “No one you’d find in records. That’s how he wanted it. Rogue Alpha. Not a pack to his name. But the bloodline is thick with prophecy and madness. Some said he was touched by the moon. Others said he was cursed by it.”

My heart was pounding in my chest at the thought of anything happening to my mate. As the witches came into view, I saw Maeve lying on the ground, completely unconscious. There was a woman kneeling over her, her hands glowing as she assessed Maeve’s body. I knelt down beside her, touching her cheek gently. There were traces of warmth, but it was getting cold. “Maeve, baby…” I whispered, hoarsely. “Are you her mate?” The woman I didn’t recognize, asked. I nodded, unable to use words. “You are the new Alpha King then,” the woman stated simply. “You are strong, I can tell from your aura. You must mark her now… it will save her life.”

One of the older warriors approached slowly, arm wrapped in bloodied bandages. “We tried to hold them back, Alpha.” Kade immediately straightened slightly. “You did,” he said firmly. “This isn’t your failure.” But his voice sounded hollow. Because he absolutely believed it was his. The warrior hesitated before speaking again. “They left something.” Ronan’s eyes narrowed instantly. “Where?” The warrior pointed toward the center of camp. My stomach twisted the second I saw it. A symbol carved deep into one of the burned support beams. A black wolf’s fang.

Not natural ones. Moving ones. Eli took an instinctive step back, but Kieran’s voice cut sharply through the tension. “Stay behind me.” Eli hesitated. He wants you to see him, Kael.” Kael’s voice was a growl, low and dangerous. “Then he’ll have my answer.” I stepped closer, my hand brushing his arm. His muscles trembled beneath my touch, a storm held within flesh and bone. His eyes softened only when they met mine.
