He laughed to himself. There was a slight breeze in the meadow. She looked down and saw his chocolate colored fur. She snuggled into him but something was different. She looked and saw the auburn fur on her paws. She was a wolf! She closed her eyes and relaxed. She was where she belonged, and all was right with the world, for the moment.

It was the beginning of everything. After I’d completed my official patrol of the perimeter, which included barking at two suspicious leaves, marking three separate trees, and breaking up a shady-looking pigeon gathering, I permitted myself to play. There were other dogs in the park. I knew them. Well, most of them. Milo, the golden retriever, has no impulse control. Olive, the rescue mutt, always brought a squeaky toy and never shared it with anyone. And a rotating pack of doodle variations who never stopped moving and probably ran an underground treat exchange.

Beth pov I stood at the window of my study, watching my children train in the yard below. Liam, now fifteen, moved with the fluid grace of both wolf and warrior as he sparred with his sister. Luna, thirteen, matched him move for move, her silver-touched eyes flashing as she combined human strategy with supernatural strength. Both showed exceptional skill and leadership already at these young ages. Beside them, Melissa's son Alexander showed the same protective instincts as his parents, already taking his role as future pack guardian seriously despite being only twelve. He was a happy go lucky kid, and we all adored him.

We were keeping an eye on the pups that were with us. Niccolò and Lilac had three pups – Raelynn, Samson, and Iris. Raelynn was currently with my girls. Violet and I had six pups – Ava, Lily, Elio, Maverick, Gabriella, and Jayce. Maverick was five, Gabby was three, and Jayce was one.

Please be seated,” she gritted through clenched teeth. I sighed but returned to my stool in the corner of the room and watched him flirt with Zoe while she examined the puppy.

Their eyes locked, holding a steady gaze for seconds. “Do not cry, Puppy,” the man used his thumb to wipe away the tears trickling down Elena’s cheeks. “Save your tears for later,” he chuckled. “Please, I beg you,” Elena continued her plea, but her appeals seemed to fall on deaf ears. “Calm down Puppy, I have a surprise for you” The man smirked and cupped Elena’s cheeks.

They did tell me their daughter would come to look for a pet. I guess that's her?" He dipped his chin towards Anya, who still couldn't decide among the furry animals. Her eyes widened at the smallest of them with eyes like that of a panda, and she giggled. "That's Anya. She has friends at school who have cats, and she wants to have a dog. It took a series of tantrums and drama to make her parents agree to this. They're busy with work and afraid they cannot care for the animal. I'm the babysitter."

CM throws Pandora to the ground and shifts into his brown and white wolf Rogue. Pandora looked at her Midnight her father's black Alpha wolf growling before he attacked a wolf. Midnight rips the wolf's head and gives Rogue a death stare. El Rey Alpha Keema’s wolf spits a wolf leg on the ground and sinks his teeth into another wolf’s shoulder, tearing it apart. Shota Paulo's wolf has killed three rogues and eyeing CM when CM's brother Aldis’s wolf Pace jumps on his back. Shota quickly fell backward. Pace loosened his hold and Shota stood up and clawed the wolf's chest. Pace whines until he stops breathing.
