The Delegates were the first to break formation.
Two stepped back from the circle, palms burning where their glyphs had once sparked. Their sleeves sizzled not from heat, but from rejection.
The bloom had denied their language.
The lead Delegate, face still masked, raised a secondary containment prism. Not old tech experimental. It glowed violet, one of the few Pact innovations Ari had expressly forbidden.
He activated it.
The prism pulsed once.
But before it could engage, the spiral flared again brighter than before and the prism shattered, dissolving into a mist of ash and memory.
