My stomach rumbled violently. I felt like I was about to be sick. This was the worst possible situation to be in. “Do you still remember who I am?” he asked. His voice was deep. Even deeper than I remembered. One thing that remained though was his ability of making the most innocent of words sound absolutely dirty. I had no idea how he did it. It was just like that night, when he whispered filthy things in my ear… I closed my eyes briefly and let out a little breath. “Of course, I do,” I replied. “Unfortunately.”

I whispered, barely audible over the rain pounding the roof. “Who?” His hand settled on my knee, steadying me. “The vampire,” I said, the word sounding ridiculous even as it left my lips. “From Mexico. He was in the cab next to us.” Damon’s eyes darkened, his grip tightening. “You saw a vampire at Mexico and didn't tell me? Are you sure?" he asked. “Yes,” I said, nodding frantically. “He smiled at me, waved—like he knew I’d see him.”

Something loud enough to drown out her voice in my head. Sebastian called. “Private room at Azul Roja tonight. You’ve been locked in this place too long, boss.” I did not argue. “Send the car.” The drive through Mexico City was reckless. Streetlights blurred past the tinted windows. The city pulsed with life at night chaotic, electric, and unforgiving. Inside the strip club, heavy bass vibrated through the walls. Red lights bathed the stage where women moved like liquid sin, bodies swaying to the rhythm.

“Are you trying to kill me?” “Complete the mission and you will live. Breach the border and you will be terminated.” Horror filled my bones as I started to walk faster, looking around in panic for what might attack me. With the borders only a few kilometres from me, my heart suddenly soared as I kept going. Suddenly, I heard a creaking sound that had me freezing. My head snapped up before I realized it and I saw that a huge boulder had snapped, ready to fall. With a yell, I jumped out of the way just in time for it to crash into my suitcase. My heart was pounding so hard now as I stood up and started to run.
