A swirl of silver dust rose from its pages, and the faint whisper of an ancient chant filled the air. The words written inside glowed softly under her touch. As the pages turned on their own, an illustration emerged of an image of a wolf with eyes that mirrored the moon itself. Beneath it, a name glimmered: Lunara, the First Daughter of the Moon. Aria’s breath caught. “That’s the name Selene mentioned.”

Far away, deep within the shattered ravines, a figure cloaked in silver and shadow smiles. The Unbound has found his blade. And the Moon— The Moon is already preparing to strike.

Maela whispered. Silence. Then she stepped closer to the pedestal and raised one pale hand. A shimmering pool of silver formed in the air between us. And in it, I saw flashes. A war. He would be trapped in his wolf form, with no hold on his humanity, for every first two weeks of the month” A breath of relief left Shirley in a rush. Relief that at least he was not without his suffering. Werewolves took pride in their strength as wolves. Not being able to access and control that form when they wanted had to be a nightmare, innit?

And I have to let them. Wren nodded. Luan looked at her hands. At the grey skin. At the scars. Then I find another way. There is no other way. Then I make one. She stood up. She walked outside. Only a few days away now, the date coincides with… the night of the School's Winter Formal. Shane balls both his hands into fists, inhaling, then stares up at the reddening sky. “Dreadborn will fall on the next full moon. I'll make damn certain of it.”
