Mr Midnight: Beware The Monsters Novels & Stories

Yawning, I take a drink of water from the night stand, before getting in bed and pulling up the covers. Just as I close my eyes, I hear a familiar scratching noise from the closet. Opening them, I bolt up in bed. Bubba, my fearless monster slayer is laying on the floor comatose, but he hears it too and jumps up. I notice that his ears are perked up and he cocks his head as he tries to hear something over by the closet.

He unlocked the metal door, then he turned to look at Tina and said, "Wait here for a while. I'll be done soon." He entered B5 and glanced around. All the test tubes were broken as he expected. Five strange monsters stood there, behind them was that ant-man that sat on a chair. The monsters turned around to look at Wilbur. They were all kneeling on one foot, obeying the orders of the ant-man. The ant-man made some strange noises as if it were giving out instructions. Soon, the monsters stood, and they all walked toward Wilbur. The leading monster grabbed something in mid-air. A spear instantly appeared in its hand. Aaron, who had been quiet until then, shook his head and let out a low chuckle. “Nice lipstick, kitty.” I rolled my eyes, ignoring all of them. That’s when Midnight finally showed up. Perfect. Fucking perfect. The whole damn crew together. He came out of the house with a towel over his shoulders, drying his wet hair. His cold eyes swept over all of us, then over the guys groaning on the ground. He sighed, unimpressed. Turned his back and walked inside. “Everyone inside. Now.” The silence was cutting. Timmy was still glaring at me. Gutemberg growled something inaudible before turning his back. Aaron just smirked, like he was enjoying the show.

“Come on, we need to talk to her.” We found Elder Morrigan in her chambers, as if she had been expecting us. “You found the old records,” she said before we could speak. “Good, you are ready to hear the rest.” “The rest of what?” I asked. “The truth about Midnight's Mark.” “The mark does not appear randomly. Hollow markings on the walls dulled further, stripped by the charm. Then he raised his hand and snapped his fingers once. Redcrest wolves surged from the side passage like a flood. Nightfell wolves surged from the tunnel mouth. The Spine corridor exploded. Bodies collided.

"You are the only wolf capable of running this mafia with me. Don't forget that." Before I could answer, a loud crash echoed from the center of the grand plaza. The heavy glass skylight shattered, raining sharp shards down onto the elite guests. Screams erupted as dark, massive wolves leaped down from the roof, their fangs bared, their fur matted with fresh blood. "Blackwell assassins!" Cedric yelled from across the room, drawing a silver blade from his cane. Lucien immediately shifted, his human form tearing apart into a massive, jet-black werewolf, his roar shaking the very foundations of the building.

I followed him, my heartbeat loud in my ears. Ahead, a midnight-black infinity pool stretched along the cliff’s edge, its silver-trimmed waters glowing like captured starlight. Beyond it, a fire-lit courtyard flickered softly, with obsidian benches circling a ritual pit. The kind of place where deals were sealed in blood and vows under moonlight weren’t just metaphors. Past that, a glimpse of the private combat arena—lit but quiet. Shadow-obstacles flickered like ghosts, waiting to be summoned. The whole place felt like it was holding its breath. Waiting to decide what I was.
