Sometimes we go to a book club which we both love. “Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.” “Oh my God. I love that book. It made me cry.” “Yeah I know. It’s the third time I’m reading it.” I put some laughing emojis on the message. “What are you reading?” I ask her. “Things We Left Behind. Lucy Score.” She has placed heart emojis and book emojis at the end of her message. “Oh wow. I love that book. I’ve read the two after it. You need to get them.” I tell her, noticing that a smile is on my face as I lay here in the dark.

I inhaled deeply, rewarded with the dry musk scent of old paper and hardback casings. “You like it?” Lysander’s voice made me jump. “Maeve said you requested books to be brought to your room.” All too quickly, I remembered I was a captive in a mansion. I wasn’t supposed to be enjoying anything. But I couldn’t help it. Books were one of my very first loves. They let me escape my troubled life. For that reason, I always found work in a bookshop if it was available. “I do like it,” I said, my tone hushed. “It’s beautiful.”

, I said aloud. "Let me call her first and find out where exactly she is", I said as I picked up my phone and dialed my mum's number. "Hello my daughter", my mum said from the other end of the phone. "My special person, my pride, my all in all, my favorite, my own mother, my love, thank you so much for the food", I said while laughing. "Wait, all these praises because of food, I just pray that food doesn't kill you", she said laughing.

I smile looking at him making different faces and replied. “BECAUSE… … I love reading book it give me a piece and their only one who never leave me and will always spend time on me. they never complained about anything and always ready to be with me.” I sadly smile towards him remembering my lonely time which was not anymore lonely since book became my friends. but somewhere , I always feeling a void inside me. I didn't know what that was. “You are speaking as if you are talking about a person.” He said while raising his brows.

I shifted and let her rest on my side, as she leaned in to see the words. Meanwhile I hummed to myself, flipping the page on the book again; a classic I loved to re-read whenever I had the time to do so. “Oh,” she breathed. “I didn’t know you were the type to read books like this.” “Grazie,” my sarcasm didn’t fly over her head and she giggled. “Mi dispiace amore mio,” she hummed. “It looks well loved.” Well loved? “It was a gift from my mother,” I revealed to her and she went silent.

“What are you reading?” I picked up the book, showing him the cover. “It's a romance novel. I've always been a fan of the genre" A faint spark of interest lit up his eyes. “Oh, really? I enjoy Romance too. Have you read any Sarah J Mass?” I smiled, an “Of course, I love Sarah. One of my very favorites" Damon's lips curved into a genuine smile. “Mine too.” “I put the book back down again and turned fully to him with a sad smile, “how are you taking the whole thing? The news about Isabella?”

he answered, and this just made me even more curious to ask him more questions. “Even though you can order it, but then it would take days for it to get here and you need it right now, so you had to come here,” I answered, giving him an explanation, and he nodded in agreement, immediately locking in. “What’s the name of this book?” I asked, and he swallowed. “Just an old classic historical romance book; Rebellious Love by Maura Seger,” he answered, and I slowly nodded. “Okay then,” I said as I took slow steps away from him.
