My own recent failed proposal popped in my head, and I felt something nudge me to tell him the story. My heart raced. I don’t think I had told anyone the story beside Maria. I was usually the type to keep things bottled up nice and tight inside. I hesitated for a moment. He seemed like he needed to hear he wasn’t alone in his romance woes. “Well, I had a somewhat similar evening fairly recently. At least, as far as it not going as planned with a significant other.” He sat up and turned his head to look at me, “Oh?”

"It's kinda sexy, actually." I snorted, shook my head. "You don't understand." I ordered my thoughts, tried to make them coherent. "I went to an all-girls school from age five to graduation at eighteen. From there, I went to culinary school and stayed for an advanced certificate. Graduated at twenty-one, top of my class. Came home. Within two weeks, at a party my parents setup, I was dating Ethan. I got engaged at twenty-three. Married at twenty-five. Divorced at thirty. And I've already been kidnapped by thirty-one. Other than Ethan, I've been on a grand total of ten dates. I've never been one to sleep around. Never have, never will."

“I didn’t know it was going to be Reid when I agreed to go on the date. We found each other on date-to-mate.” “You’re on date-to-mate?” “Yes. After we ended things, I joined. I want my mate, or a mate, someone to settle down and start a family with. I haven’t found anyone here, so I figured date-to-mate would be a good way to find someone.” I leave out the part about it being Blake who set up my account on my phone for me. He doesn’t need to know that. All he needs to know is that I am moving on.

His eyes were slightly red, and the muscles in his jaw kept tightening as though he was fighting something inside himself. “I don't think it's…” “If you were given a chance to really date,” he blurted out, “would you date someone like me?” Everything inside me stopped. I stared at him. Ryan seemed to realize what he'd just asked because his expression changed almost immediately. “It's nothing.” A nervous laugh escaped him. “I'm just joking.” A sharp ache settled in my chest. Of course. What else had I expected? Ryan Hayes wasn't seriously asking me if I wanted to date him. This was fake. Everything between us was fake.

Of course, the thing everyone was most curious about was her love life. Faced with their eager gossiping, Evelyn was open and casual about it. "I dated someone two years ago, but we broke up because our personalities didn't match. We're still business partners, though. My current boyfriend and I got together earlier this year. He's two years younger than me, a student at the University of Satbury, but he's really mature for his age…" There was an unmistakable glow of happiness on her face as she talked about their relationship, sharing photos and videos with everyone.

She asked. “Oh, gosh no, I have never even used dating app in my life. We met purely by coincidence. I was dating his nephew but the shitty guy cheated on me and when I was at my lowest, I met Stefan. We talked for some time before we eventually started dating.” She explained. Madeline was speechless. She didn’t think it was that easy for her. “Are you telling me you never tried seducing him or something?” She was baffled. “No, I have never done that.” She admitted.

Ines looked serious. His eyes seemed to glow like he was a child who was being praised for the first time. She sighed. “I’m old enough to go on a date…” “Old?” he asked as he leaned forward placing his forearms over the table. “Well, I’m twenty-five and I haven’t even gotten my first kiss~~” She froze and quickly sipped on her iced coffee. “Anyway, I know someone who was rejected and now, he’s attached to a woman who was also rejected by her mate. The way he claimed her as his mate seemed to be real. Like they were indeed fated to each other.”

Alex listened attentively, nodding occasionally, but it was clear that they still had some unresolved issues between them. I offered my perspective, hoping to help them find a solution. The conversation turned to dating lives. Rachel was regaling us with a particularly hilarious dating story. “So, I matched with this guy on a dating app," Rachel began, a mischievous glint in her eye. "We hit it off over text, and he seemed really funny and charming. We decided to meet up at a coffee shop for our first date." We all listened intently, curious to hear what happened next.

His hands venture over her curved body, exploring. They pull apart and open their eyes. They stare at each other, deep into each other's eyes. Hussaini's full of wonder and love, Nafisa's full of curiosity and passion. No words are spoken but a story worthy of them is communicated. He leans in a softly kisses up and down her neck. She lets out little whimpers of anticipation. He works his way back to her tender, smooth lips. As they kiss she rolls him over and lies on top of his strong, muscular body.

“Why haven’t you shared this juicy tidbit with us?” “It’s a long story. I told Schuyler I had something to tell her at dinner tonight. I planned to introduce Tyler to her this evening.” I let out a long breath as I rub my hands down my face. “I tried to date twice when he was a baby. College girls weren’t interested in my baggage. It’s why I gave up dating for over three years. I needed to focus on what was best for him.” I attempt to smile at Dallas. “Why does he change everything?”
