New Historical Fiction Book Novels & Stories

No longer able to slip my finger over the backs of the books for fear I might touch something else I didn’t want to know about, I tried to read some of the titles, but I could see these books had been handled a lot. I wondered where they would have been stored in the library and who would have spent so much time reading them. I found one that had to do with the history of the first beast and made sure the cover was animal before I pulled it out. I could deal with animal leather. Finding a seat, I made myself comfortable and started reading the account of one of the royal council members. “September 15th, 1789

He would have, right? I shook my head again and concentrated on the book placed on my lap. It was one of the British, historical romance fictions set during the World War Two. I had randomly picked it up at the bookstore and somehow felt myself drawn towards it. Sappy novel with mopey dialogues and dragged out bits, it still provided me with much needed solace.

He was always uncomfortable talking about his work, and specifically the money he made from it; it felt too much like bragging. “You working on anything now?” Bias asked. “Yeah, I’m about two thirds of the way through a new book called Disappearing Act.” “What’s it about? Or is that top secret information?” “No, it’s actually a historical piece about the Lost Colony of Roanoke and what might have actually happened to them.” Bias’s shoulders slumped a little. “Oh, interesting.” “You don’t like it?” “It’s not that, seriously that’s a cool idea, it’s just . . . well, I was sure you would be writing something about your house.”

I say. I hope so. I really hope he’s right. I look at the clock on the wall and it says 1:48PM. I open my laptop and I start to read. The book I have to read is actually a historical book based on arts and crafts in the 18th century. It’s not a romance novel, so forgive me if I’m not very excited to read it. I could read 600 pages of a romance or horror novel, but my reading assignments are just not inviting enough.
