His Captive, His Mate, His Queen

His Captive, His Mate, His Queen

"They have always been very mysterious." "Aren’t nobles supposed to be very high-profiled?" I blurted out, unconvinced by her words. "High-profiled? I don’t understand, Your Majesty. They have never been. I hope you haven’t been lied to," she added after clarifying my doubts, causing heat to rush up to my ears. Without looking into the mirror, I knew they would be blood red. Thankfully, it was hidden under my updo. But wasn't it like that? The stories of overbearing nobles or rather overgrown babies in adult skin, causing deaths and throwing the words: 'Do you know who I am?' flashed past my mind. So they were lying.

Sold to the Count of Erana

Sold to the Count of Erana

Noelle, Asty, and Mrs. Pickinns descended from their carriage after arriving at the Palace of Chesterfawn. With glimmering eyes, Noelle and Asty obsequiously stared at the Nobles which displayed beautiful and shimmering regalias. Dresses that are handwoven with sequins and beads which glowed in assonance of the lights. Noelle and Asty stared as the Nobles ascend the beautiful golden glass staircase that led to Palace's gates.

My Next Life As A Wicked Dame

My Next Life As A Wicked Dame

Kahit mga nobles meron paring hierarchy. I decided to go in the right swing. Mas tahimik doon at wala masyadong tao na nakikita. I followed the pathway, masarap sa pakiramdam ang hangin dahil presko ito. Maraming puno na nasa gilid with matching benches. Sa dulo ng pathway ay naroroon ang parang mini garden kung saan nobles can throw tea parties. Pero sa pagkakaalam ko ay hindi ito masyadong pinulutahan dahil medyo malayo at tago. Nobles prefer wide spaces at mas madaling makita ng iba to flex everything they got. It means they have the wealth, power, and status.

Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing

"Besides, the guys who went after Mr. Louis and those four nearly martial ancestors old masters this morning? Definitely from another noble family." "Let's drop it. There's no point in hashing this out any further," Howard said, setting down his cup with a disinterested tone. For him, the goal had been met. The fate of the Southern defense marshals was not his concern. The other noble families? They would have their day, but not just yet. That was a game that needed time and the right moment to play. Howard glanced at the rotund figure of Mystical Chubby. "Abbercrombie's latest medicinal ingredient has some real treasures. Make sure they're put to good use!"

Rise Of She-Wolf

Rise Of She-Wolf

Sometimes they would patrol the streets in a small group, leisurely checking major streets and alleyways for signs of vandalism. Thinking of the other detectives, Kai knew he would soon lose his friendship with them. It's ridiculous to hope otherwise. He couldn't function in their world for a second longer - Sir Ross had made it impossible. But why? Why can't that annoying bastard just leave things alone? Kai's mind whirled around, failing to grasp the answer. Perhaps it has something to do with Sir Ross's pursuit of justice and order. Kai was born a viscount and so his position Kai examines what he knows about the nobility, their habits and rituals, the uncountable laws of conduct, the ines

The Lucifer's Bride (English Ver.)

The Lucifer's Bride (English Ver.)

They know that the long-awaited cash flow has arrived. Abelard disembarked from the chariot in clothes more modest than he could have worn, but the impression of aristocracy and nobility still clung tightly to the man. Just a few steps he walked into the dark alley, a woman with minimal clothes and cheap stinging perfume approached. The woman glared mischievously at Abelard. "I wonder, what is a young noble like you doing in a dirty place like this, sir?" she asked as she traced Abelard's broad shoulders with her pointed finger.

FOR HIS ROYAL PLEASURE

FOR HIS ROYAL PLEASURE

“Don’t mistake physical desire for more noble feelings. There is nothing noble or indeed proper about what I feel for you now, Ava Marie. I want an affair with you to get you out of my system before I take up the reins of duty. I will be expected to marry and to marry well. I believe someone has already been earmarked as a potential bride.” And the third blow came and made her KO. Ava felt as if he had plunged a serrated fishing knife deep into her chest. She wanted to bend over double to stop the pain but only pride kept her upright and rigid. “Oh, really? You want an affair… Do you now?” Ava asked in a disinterested tone. “That certainly takes the legwork out for you, doesn’t it? Just thin

Another lovely, interesting story by E.S. Loved the 2 characters. Would love a follow-up of what happened to their sweet, little family, truth & justice for Ava & the journalist, Fede's ascension to the throne or not, the story indicated probably, but it'd be nice to know. Nicely done in 31 chptrs.

The Duke And I

The Duke And I

She wasn't certain, and when Henry saw it in her face, he said, "He was a man of his times, I suppose, bound by certain rules of society in spite of... leanings in other another direction." Looking him straight in the eye, Cassy said bluntly, "I have the feeling that there is something you know that you don't want to say directly." "I try never to say anything directly," he said with a mocking smile. "It makes it so much easier to deny later." Shifting uneasily, Cassy hesitated before she tried again. "Was my grandfather a noble man?" "A nobleman?" "No, a good and decent man." "Ah. That I can answer directly, my lady. Yes, he was a good and decent man."

Great read! normally I read books that are hard to follow due to being poorly translated, not historically accurate and reflective of the country the story is based in. but, this book was entertaining and had a really good plot.

True talent. I want to read more by this up and coming author. This is literary art at its finest. Could not put it down. Emotions, humor and turns I wasn't expecting. I can only wait on tender hooks for another book. Sequel please!

The Demon King Chronicles; Demon-Named

“Me too.” “If the school wasn’t swayed by nobles they wouldn’t be bounding together the way they are,” he told them. “It’s only nobles. Do you see anyone else between them? It’s been designed so that even here they ostracize the commoners. The nobles do not get punished for it. Not even a slap on the wrist for the wrong they do.”

Born To Fight

Wilson asked. “No, of course not! But the good ones are few are not powerful enough to curb this habits and behaviours. They are also maltreated by the rich greedy and wicked ones. Although they cannot be touched due to the king’s orders, they can still be treated like commoners and don’t have many rights unlike the very rich ones. One thing you should know, young boy, is that money can do anything. Especially in a society like this. By the way, these rich people are referred to as nobles.” Dale explained as he kept his head lower to the ground and told Wilson to do the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

Noble House' by James Clavell is this epic doorstopper of a novel set in Hong Kong, and the characters are so vivid they practically leap off the page. The central figure is Ian Dunross, the tai-pan of Struan's, the titular Noble House. He's this charismatic, shrewd leader trying to keep his family's empire afloat amid corporate backstabbing and political chaos. Then there's Linbar Struan, his rival within the family, oozing ambition but lacking the same finesse. Quillan Gornt, the ruthless competitor from Rothwell-Gornt, is like the villain you love to hate—always scheming to topple Struan's.

On the personal side, there's Casey Tcholok, this brilliant American executive with a sharp mind and a complicated past, and Orlanda Ramos, a woman caught between love and survival in Hong Kong's high-stakes world. The book weaves their fates together with historical events like the 1960s riots, making it feel like you're watching a grand chess match where every move matters. What I adore is how Clavell makes even the side characters, like the cunning Four Finger Wu or the idealistic journalist Peter Marlowe, feel essential to the tapestry. It's one of those books where you finish it and miss the characters like old friends.
