“We just made fresh roasted almond nougat this morning too. Would you like to try some, Mr. Romano?” Zane shook his head quickly. “No. Thank you.” I arched a brow, stabbing at my tiramisu. “Why not? You’re a foodie, aren’t you?” “Because,” he answered easily, “I’m allergic to nuts.” I turned to him. “Allergic?” He nodded, casual as hell. “The itchy kind… or the kind where an ambulance shows up?” “The kind where I stop breathing and we all get a much more dramatic morning.”

It also included that one almond cake that my aunt brought back from India , I only had it once but I fell in love with it instantly . I didn't know how they made it but that chocolatey chewy layer filled with oreo biscuits and some sweet almond paste or something made my heart swoon . It was really hard to throw the box away . But the thing that actually tested my patience came today . I stared at my locker and felt a sob lodged in my throat. I couldn't , I just could not throw them away .

Savannah chuckled and suggested, "You can call me Aunt. Mrs. West is too formal, especially since my son seemed determined to tie you down." While Charlie flushed, Savannah stood beside her, watching the farmland. She said, "Whenever I'm here, I feel like the world is beyond me. I feel so small compared to the wonders of nature. Out here, the world is built on patience. Almond trees take three to five years to grow and bear fruit. It's longer for pistachios, and don't even get me started on macadamia nuts!" Savannah shook her head, saying, "It takes seven years, on average, to get full production."

“That almond milk scam was the beginning of the end.” Luciana leaned forward with a smile. “Wait, what almond milk scam?” “She doesn’t believe almonds can be milked,” Elliot said, deadpan. “They can’t!” Aunt Lydia insisted. “Have you ever seen an almond with nipples? Case closed.” The table laughed, light and easy. I forced a small smile and glanced sideways. Daniel’s face stayed neutral, but his fingers traced the rim of his glass slowly, like he needed something to do with his hands. “So, River,” Luciana said, turning her attention to me with polite interest. “Are you still drawing?”

Then, her gaze stopped on something that looked suspicious. Damelza stepped closer, scrutinizing the shape of the item, which turned out to be an almond snack. The large almonds were enough to whet Damelza's appetite. "Hello, is anyone here?" Damelza called out loudly. After a few minutes of waiting, no one came. It drew her gaze to a letter nestled amongst a pile of almonds.

She brought it to her lips and took a bite, chewing slowly, then she swallowed. The taste was sweet amd nutty, warm even. For a brief second, it felt… normal. Then Vanessa tilted her head slightly as she began chewing on hers. “Oh…” Alessia didn’t look at her. She was still chewing. Vanessa’s voice came again, softer. “Damien dear, how does mom even know almonds are my favourite?” She chuckled, “this feels so good.” Silence fell. A second passed, two. Alessia blinked. Her throat tightened slightly.

Rose this really wasn't your fucking day. "Damn it." I mumbled as I dropped it back on the plate. Not knowing what to do. I was fucking allergic to almonds and…. I freaking ate it. This really was the dumbest thing I've ever done, what I was going to do? I don't even have my medicine with me right now, I really needed them or the pain would start. Whenever I ate almonds the allergic reactions I got were quite odd, I'd start becoming red minute by minute and would get this excruciating pain in my abdomen.

Maybe while you’re at it, I will answer your curiosity.’’ ‘’I actually forgot,’’ I stood up and brought the food with me on the bed, placing it on my thighs while I opened the lid to see what was inside,’’ I gasped as I beheld the contents in the food bowl. ‘’oh! Is this not a Blancmange dessert?! I love it! The fact that it is made from almond milk is a huge spice up for me. I love Almond milk, I can’t wait to try it. “Don’t have that” I frowned at him “And why should I listen to you?” “Because this chicken drumsticks have crushed almonds on it. And you are allergic to them” that’s when I took a look at the starter and sure enough the chicken drumsticks were sprinkled with crushed almonds. “Oh, thank you” I murmured. “Wait a second, how do you know she is allergic to almonds?” Knox looked suspicious as he stared from me to Oliver. “I…” I was short of words. How do I reveal to him that he is my fourth mate who rejected me.

Some days were harder than others, but Marta never failed to make me eat in smaller quantities without making it feel like a lot. The cake in front of me was so small that a normal person could eat it in one go, yet for me it would take almost thirty minutes to finish it without getting sick. I decided not to comment on it and took the cake, taking a bite. The warm and soft cake melted in my mouth almost instantly, leaving a sweet but not overly sugary almond taste behind. My eyes widened with happiness as I did a little dance. Almond was my favorite. “Marta, this tastes amazing.
