Goodbye, my mate

Goodbye, my mate

Why Darryl and his gang had hounded me, kicking me down because I didn't fit their mold. Then the debt - Vinny's chokehold on me. I'd read enough in community library to know it wasn't just bad luck; it was the way the world turned after the Second World War, the dollar propped up while poor people like me got crushed. Nonna's illness didn't help, bleeding us dry, but I'd never blame her. She was all I had.

COLLECTION OF LUST AND LOVE

COLLECTION OF LUST AND LOVE

Writing and art are renewable resources, there was still money floating around to support this community, at least somewhat better than the average American worker, and, if nothing else, the Great Depression itself was a gold mine of literary and artistic inspiration. Wally Holland's Rocky Mountain Construction Company survived the Great Depression as well, but it was much depleted and barely able to breathe for most of the decade of the thirties before coming back full-blown in 1938. The depression completely killed the company's big money-making vacation house divisions, however. Bigger government projects continued, but at much smaller profit margins. I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.
