Ever since I binge-watched 'Assassination Classroom', I've been obsessed with the idea of creating an OC who could fit into that wild yet heartfelt universe. Imagine a transfer student who grew up in a family of underground weaponsmiths—their parents crafted custom tools for assassins but were strictly anti-violence themselves. The OC would inherit their parents' skills but struggle with the moral conflict of using them. The setting of 'My Hero Academia' has such specific societal pressures—pro-hero celebrity culture, the legacy of All Might, the lingering fear post-All For One. Your OC isn't just living in a vacuum.

Maybe their unique angle isn't about power, but about perspective. A character whose parent is a famous Rescue Hero might have a completely warped view of glory versus actual service. Or someone whose sibling was a victim of a villain attack with a mutation-type Quirk could harbor deep, complicated feelings about public safety laws. The backstory should create friction with the world, not just slot neatly into it.

I always try to give mine one core contradiction. Like, a character desperate to be a hero but pathologically afraid of crowds because of a childhood incident. That tension writes itself. The backstory isn't a biography you recite; it's the engine for the choices they'll make when you throw them into a scene. Flesh out one or two pivotal moments that hurt or changed them, and let the Quirk emerge from that emotional place, not the other way around.
