The world spun in a haze of stars and distant cheers as I lay there, gasping for air, but even that pain was nothing compared to the surge of unquenched desire flooding me. Something warm sprayed past my lips as I coughed, and I blinked up at the brightening sky, asking myself for what must have been the hundredth time. I needed to fight harder.
