One That Didnt Get Away Novels & Stories

With that he left out the door. Nathan looking unamused grabbed the other list and headed out “Always the gofer.” was all I heard before he was gone. Jeong smiles “Come on, lets see if Gerald has an idea where a good spot would be.”

She approached him, her hand outstretched, trying to soothe the beast's sudden agitation. ----------- Miles away, Nick navigated a deserted road, the family gala a distant memory. He hadn't bothered to attend. His mind was occupied with thoughts of Maggie, their earlier encounter echoing in his memory. The fear in her eyes, the echoes of his own childhood abandonment, had left him rattled.

I mean I knew that before but that made me realize what I’ll be missing if she slips through my finger, that made me vow to never let her get away from me. The conversation I was having with Nate, who is God sent and helped me ask around, distracted me from the activities going on around me. I have no idea what they spent the entire meal discussing, Zanders and my father being interested in whatever siren had to say told me enough, I wouldn’t care for it.

Right before the syndicate's power handover, I flew back to New York after a year of studying jewelry design in Europe. But the night before the ceremony, my secret boyfriend of three years—the Rossi family's new second-in-command—sent me a text: [Sorry, Chloe. I lost a card game, and you were my chip. You're his problem now.] Before I could even breathe, I got tagged in the family's encrypted dark-web channel. The top thread was blowing up: [The Mafia Boss Just Won a Fat Pig for a Girlfriend!] Pinned right at the top was an old photo of me from a few years ago. Back when I was 180 pounds. The comment section was ruthless: [If the Boss knew what he actually won, he'd regret making that bet.]

the DJ shouted. I looked down at Missy and she shook her head, then buried it into my jacket. Clearly she didn’t want to stick around and listen to little Miss Priss win. I sure as hell didn’t either. I stepped forward but the magic had me caged in. I looked to Evan and he waved, then I felt the pull of the teleport moving us away. Nate and I grabbed our mate tight and then, we were gone.

" Last time we had gone on one of her weekend get aways, she promised to get me back by Sunday night, instead, we arrived Monday night. Last Thing I wanted, was getting fired too. "No protesting. You need to distract yourself, and 'I' need to get drunk without dad scolding me for coming home drunk. Now hurry your ass up. I'm on my way to get you now, oh and don't forget your sexiest bathing suit in case we see a few hot guys on other boats." She implied with a giggle and hung up. I puffed my cheeks. Maybe this little get away would do us both good.

"Fuck, I missed!" Disappointment flooded through me as I lowered the gun, sighing heavily. I had walked away from the group which I was going with as I thought if I go this deeper I might get something worthy to catch. After all, Carlos already said all areas are free of any danger, that was the reason why I was bold enough to come this far by myself but now I haven't even caught anything. But I got nothing since morning. Lowering my head, I turned around, deciding to head back to the camp empty-handed but then my eyes caught a red flashy boot which definitely looked familiar as I had seen it earlier and I slowly raised up my gaze, only to see:

My finger hovered over the send button, unable to press it. Just then, a new message appeared in the chat: "Come to the pack house."

Alpha Devin approached her cautiously and took a seat beside her. “Drained, but okay. Did you catch him?” She looked at us hopefully, but the look died down when she saw our shoulders deflate. “He got away before we even reached here.” Alpha Devin gritted. “He got away with the Moonstone,” I added sadly. “I’m sorry guys, I should have been able to do more.” She sighed, wringing her hands in her lap.

“How the fuck did he slip past our fingers again?!” Ethan didn’t flinch. “I think he knew we were closing in. That his plan to kidnap Miss Vale failed. He anticipated the fallout. He ran before the hammer dropped.” I pressed both palms against the wheels of my chair, grounding myself before I flipped the whole thing out of pure fury. My teeth clenched so tight my jaw ached. He got away. Again. Like a fucking ghost in daylight. I leaned in, my voice low and sharp as a knife pressed to a throat.
