Camellia blinked, disbelief twisting her face.
“What?”
“She’s been sending money every month,” Amy continued. “Not because she wanted to spy or interfere, but because she felt guilty. She told me she just wanted you to be okay.”
Camellia’s knees weakened. She sank slowly onto the edge of the bed, shaking her head in disbelief. “So all this time, I’ve been living off my sister’s pity?”
“It wasn’t pity,” Amy said, voice trembling. “It was love, Cami.”
“Love?” Camellia laughed bitterly. “Lucia doesn’t know what that word means. If she did, she wouldn’t have turned her back on me when I needed her most!”
