Order Of The Housemaid Books นิยาย & เรื่องราว

Ray had made it clear that the parents had warned them to stay clear of my path. I didn't want to lose my only job, I couldn't afford to. A few hours later, I had already changed Bryson's beddings, made Ray's bed and now I was unpacking. The room was pretty good for a housemaid like me. It had a canopy bed, dresser, Tv cabinet and a walk in wardrobe. I only had a few clothes, the closet was so big for my few old tees and sweats. I didn't own any jewellery, not even a single pair of earrings. Mmmh I'll just leave my clothes in the suitcase like before, and just take out my toothbrush.

I thought as I arranged my shirts on the rack, according to colours, just how my Mum used to do it. Soon I heard a door opening, I went into the room, but my door was still locked, I still heard movements. I hoped the maids still remembered that this was my wing of the house and nobody was allowed here. I stepped out and noticed the room opposite mine was open, I stepped in and saw the new House maid , Miriam or Mara, I wasn't sure really. She was changing the sheets on the bed and dropping in soaps in the bathroom like someone was coming here. I hoped not. We would frustrate anyone that stayed here until they left, the voice in my head spoke and I completely agreed for once today.

After the maid had mopped the floor, Wendy ordered, "Wipe it again with a cloth." The maid responded incredulously, "Excuse me? You're not the one paying me, so I don't take orders from you." She walked away with the mop. Wendy felt her authority challenged. "Your pay comes from him, right?" She pointed at Stanley. Before the maid could reply, Wendy stood up and said condescendingly, "I am his girlfriend, and soon I will be the mistress of this house. If you want to keep your job, you'd better listen to me."

I wasn’t exactly in the mood for another encounter with Lucifer Montgomery, but apparently, I didn’t get to decide when hell wanted me. A different maid came this time. Like the rest she was Quiet, polite, and just as uncomfortable as the last. She didn’t say much. Just offered me a tight smile and gestured for me to follow. We moved through the silent house, her shoes clicking softly against the polished floors while mine padded behind hers like I was being led into a trap I already regretted agreeing to.

CASSANDRA'S POV She opened the front door, and I stepped inside, my heels clicking softly against the floor. The moment I entered everything about the house screamed wealth. The lights above, the wide staircase that spiraled upward like something out of a movie. A maid hurried over immediately, bowing slightly as she reached out to take our bags. I didn’t even try to hide the smirk forming on my face. She was small, timid-looking, her hair neatly tied into a bun. She probably thought she was being polite, but to me, it felt like power — my power, for once.

"You're way too beautiful to be a maid, dear." I smiled, not looking up from the window I was scrubbing, "Mrs. Beatrice, that's the third time you are saying this today." "Because it's true three times over." Mrs Beatrice, the woman I now worked for as a personal maid, settled deeper into her armchair, the wood creaking under her weight. "A girl with a face like yours should be married to some wealthy merchant, not on her knees scrubbing floors."

Up until noon, everything looked normal. Just as disappointment began to creep in, she suddenly strode straight into my bedroom under the camera. When she came back out, she was wearing my silk sleepwear. She had also put on my jewelry, around her neck and on her hands. She sat on the sofa, elegantly lifting a glass of red wine, every bit the mistress of the house. At that moment, the doorbell rang. She rose unhurriedly and went to open the door. A young woman walked in.

My eyes darted to the big red button above my headrest. "Push the button if you need anything," the maid had said, but since when do I take orders from a maid? Besides, I was no prisoner, or so I liked to think. I jumped off the bed, slipping my feet into the white fluffy slippers, which was the only thing I loved in this house, and left my room. I half expected someone to be standing guard at my door, but there was no one. In fact, from where I stood at my door, I could neither see nor hear anything around me. With how silent the house was, I would have thought that there was no one at home, but I knew better. Everyone who lived here, from Malakai down to the workers, had the stealth of a c

Another maid walked up to me and took my purse, and Gerald pushed my luggage that I had quickly packed together to that same maid too. "Please take these up to Miss Sophia's room. And make sure that the room is well cleaned," he ordered her. The maid nodded her head, and went off to do as she was asked. I noticed that the house was run perfectly well. The last time I was here, being in this house had given me an eerie feeling and I wasn't quite sure why. I figured it out now, it was because the style of the house, everything inside of it and even the way the maids and butler behaved, resembled a medieval palace.
