There was no way his future prospects were good, according to everyone, but he shocked them all and rose within the ranks of the Diaz cartel, becoming one of the core members that Rafaela counted on. “Eras el gigante de nuestro grupo. El jefe al que admiramos, pero sé que no había manera de vencer al cáncer. Descansa bien, mujer galante. Díaz se mantendría firme, incluso en tu ausencia. Te lo prometo. Descansa bien. (You were the giant of our group. The boss we look up to, but I know there was no way for you to beat this cancer. Rest well, gallant woman. Diaz would stand strong, even in your absence. I promise you that. Rest well.)”

CASSANDRA POV 1 YEAR LATER. "Why can't you send someone else?" I questioned my boss Mateo holding the phone up my ear. "Because you're the best assassin we have to kill this motherfucker, who has been causing trouble for us," Mateo said. "I don't give a fuck how you kill him, seduce him, shoot him in the dick, do what you have to get him" "Fine, so what's the guy's name, and what does he look like," I asked.

I couldn't deny the fact she was a fantastic dancer. “Hey, Omegas,” I saw a huge hand resting over Daisy’s shoulders from behind. At that same moment, I felt a huge hand also on my shoulder. Daisy and I turned in unison to look at who it was, and my eyes widened in shock. It was the beast Gamma. He held a smirk on his lips as he rested his heavy hands across our shoulders. He stood between us. Daisy tried to dart away but he held her by the neck of her uniform and pulled her back. “Too late, wavy hair,” he said.

For them. They were coming through faster now. The lost. The murdered. The forgotten. Spirits with unfinished hunger. Some whispered. Some screamed. Some laughed as they rose. Allowed them to rise, to stand, to come back for what they wanted to come back to. To get what they wanted and what they deserved. But one was silent. Always silent. Dorian. Sienna’s father. The man that I believed, I loved. He had been dead for years. Not hidden. Not erased. Just gone, peacefully, stubbornly, still.

I said, turning my laptop off “we have a lot to do this afternoon” *********************************** “Dante, you know that my respect for your family is endless, but these plans are not ones that would work. If anything, we might lose more than we would ever gain” Mikhail Baryshnikov said, looking at me. This man in specific was one of the oldest investors and partners of the family. He was also one of the men who encouraged Giovanni into dropping his family to build a bigger empire.

“You spoke well, I think you may have even convinced them to like you.” “Thanks Deano, your compliments never disappoint.” I scoffed, peering up at him. He met my eye-roll with a grin that stretched to his hazel eyes, lighting up his face in that way that made him look less murderer and more golden retriever. He wrapped his arm around my waist, earning him a raised eyebrow from Julius which he saw but ignored.

If this was Oscar's punishment, then they already understood they had been wrong. So why had it not ended? She watched Elara stick out her tongue at her before following Helena through the villa gate without a backward glance. Something in Diana's chest felt as though it were being sliced apart. "The family hospital is in deep trouble. The debts are significant." Dizer frowned. "How significant?" "Hundreds of millions. We've exhausted almost every option." The room suddenly felt smaller, hotter, and increasingly suffocating. Then came the next bomb. "The Oscar family has offered assistance," Javier revealed. Dizer’s brow furrowed. "The Oscar family?" Immediately, one specific name came to mind: Doctor Liam Oscar. He was the country's most famous surgeon—a medical genius, a media favorite, a billionaire heartthrob, and a man completely out of her league. "What does a billionaire surgeon have to do with me?"

Oscar commanded Lieutenant Bima. “Ready, Sir,” Bima replied. “Tell the Scarred-Face Man,” Oscar's voice was hoarse, yet it carried a startling authority. “Tell him, David is dead. Olivia is dead. Daniel is dead.” Oscar gave a cruel smile, a smile that did not reach his cold eyes at all. “And now, the only one left of the family he destroyed has come to collect the debt.”

They glare at each other for a beat longer. The crowd erupts into varies of quizzing voices. Lights flashing in her face. “Is this all just an act?!” “Diana, look this way!” “Deimos Escarrá is currently the third most influential man in the country and is currently named business man of the year. Did he use his connections to aid you?” “Diana, look to the left!” “How are you feeling knowing that your behavior could very well ruin the image your family is known for?”
