“—toast!” Jane blinked. Toast? She glanced down at the lobster, scallops, truffle mash, and cheese platter. None of this is toast, you senile cow. But Jane said nothing. Patricia’s expression shifted as she turned to Susan. Her entire demeanor changed—softening, brightening. She extended her hand with a wide smile. “Susan. Patricia Hunter. I’ve heard so much about you.” Susan stood and shook her hand, smiling back. “All good things, I hope.”
