He was sure even a whisper would alert the shadow he was looking at in the dark. What it was, he didn’t know. He was sure, though, that it was bent over to a lump, unmoving body of someone. The creature was groaning, but its prey was no longer in the defense. Adjusting to the darkness, it became a challenge not to make a noise when he took in the feature of the monster. It looked just like the ones from the movie he, and others before her, were so fond of binge-watching. “What is happening?” he whispered, tears racing down once again as he slowly moved back.

"After the papers are signed next week, you'll receive the first anniversary gift from the Donna." Outside the window, the rain gradually stopped. The hunter had already closed the net, leaving the prey still sleeping peacefully in the gentle trap, unaware.

Animal Hunters could only handle Low Class Magical Beasts, whereas Thrashers could handle the Middle and average High Classes with relative comfort. Predators were the second highest combat force of this world. They were rare and highly sought after even in the cities. Predators could handle any High Class Magical Beast, and were strong enough to go against the power of Mythic Class Magical Beasts. Two Predators with good teamwork could kill a very strong Mythic Class without sustaining severe injuries. They were a very powerful force to reckon with.

"They are likely following you by scent as we speak. How do you think they will react once they find you? Have you ever seen a wolf take down its prey, young warrior?" Leif's eyes bulged. His mouth worked for several seconds before any sound came out. "That is not true. Those are only stories to keep children from roaming. There are no such thing as shapeshifters," Leif protested, but Astrid could see the fear playing behind his eyes. "I assure you, it is no fairytale. I have seen it with my own eyes." Her amber eyes bore into his with a burning intensity. "Brandur is one. You remember he is called The Destroyer?"

The king said, calling the names of each of the utmost exalted elders present starting with those on the right hand part of the table to those on the left hand part and lastly the one at the far edge. “Your majesty, my stance remains the same either as an official or personally, that glass-eyed monster must be killed before he becomes strong and destroys us all.” White-haired predator said with a slight bow but Sword-saint predator instantly grew mad as he slammed his hand on the table “My grandson is not a monster.” He yelled in rage “Sword-saint, you aren’t thinking things through, you’re letting your emotion cloud your judgme

As he padded gracefully through the forest, his speed and agility were breathtaking, a stark contrast to his human limitations. Suddenly, the sound of thundering steps approached, the heavy vibrations causing the ground to tremble beneath his paws. John hadn't been gone long, and the wolves' search party had already found him. He glanced over his shoulder, his heart racing, and saw the looming forms of a bear and a lion. The sight sent shivers down his spine – new predators were now on his tail. He had to act quickly.

It had been dead more than a week, and the stench was thick. “Truth be told, I don’t even think it’s a predator, for that matter.” King shook his head slowly. “Whatever it is should have at least eaten the animals that it killed. This…beast…doesn’t feed on its kills. It just murders the animals and leaves them whole. “The reason this is such a big problem for me is that everybody needs the forest. We need it for our hunts, and also for the lumber mills. I’ve been considering stopping people from entering the forests. At least, until we can be sure of what exactly we’re dealing with.

His hands gripped the iron bars of the cage door. And then with a violent roar He ripped them open. The metal door slammed against the wall with a thunderous crash. For a moment neither of us moved. My mind refused to process what I was seeing. Knox stepped forward slowly. Out of the cage, he was completely free. His shoulders rose and fell with heavy breaths as his glowing eyes locked onto me. Predator. He had smelt a prey. The air between us felt electric. Dangerous. He tilted his head slightly.

Whatever made them was big and fast. “There,” I said, crouching to inspect it. “Something heavy passed through here. Recently.” Kara squatted beside me. “Animal or competitor?” I asked. “Both have claws, but this spacing—” She said, touching the edges of the print “—it’s a predator.” My face paled slightly. “Fantastic. Let’s go chase the thing that could eat us alive.” She grinned. “Come on. We didn’t come this far to back out.”
