Rose moved toward the low table in the center of the room. A faint, earthy scent lingered there. Her gaze fell on a small clay dish, half-filled with what looked like crushed herbs or powder, the color dull and gray.
“What’s this?” she asked curiously, reaching toward it.
Bella’s hand shot out faster than Rose expected, snatching the dish away with a sharp, almost panicked motion. Her eyes flickered with something unreadable before she steadied her tone. “Not for you.”
