A Don's Tale
The window faced north, so it never got any sun.
When Antonio came to visit, he stood at the doorway for a long time, stunned.
"Don Moretti, this place—"
"Don't call me that again," Lorenzo cut him off, his voice unnaturally calm. "I'm not one anymore."
Antonio opened his mouth to speak, but in the end, he swallowed his words. He put down the food and supplies he had brought, then hesitated for a moment before pulling a photo from his pocket.
"We took this during our previous investigation," Antonio said. "Ms. Bianchi… She looked well."
