Alora's Windsong
The baby’s faint breaths were warm against her skin, fragile as candlelight.
They were alive—but barely.
Behind him, Ryker trudged through the drifts, keeping a steady pace despite the wind cutting sideways across the slope in blinding snow. The pack warriors went ahead of them, trying to cut a path through the snow. Each step was a battle against exhaustion, ice, and fear.
“Easy,” Ryker called over the wind. “Watch the ridge! One wrong step, there's a cliff there.”
A section of snow collapsed nearby, sending a cascade down the cliff’s side. Phantom didn’t stop. His muscles screamed in protest, but he only gripped Alora tighter. *Hold on, love. Just hold on.*
