The Villain's Hero
To end the slaughter,
Not dragon son, but daughter,
In the right hand,
Rivyn’s sword will save the land,
If the lamb chosen is wrong,
Love’s sacrifice will not be strong.
I was the lamb. I was the sacrificial lamb. It made complete sense. I had always been different, the runt of the litter, the one that did not fit, the black sheep amongst the golden dragons. A sword for the dragon’s daughter who could not take dragon form made more sense than a sword for the daughter who could take wing and wield flame.
“Go,” Rue stepped back. “And wash the blood off, Daethie. And hope that it’s not. Hope that everyone has it right.”
