Poseidon's Mistress
Lord Poseidon didn’t search a crowd like a starving man, didn’t let his pulse answer a name spoken in a lower hall, didn’t remember salt grass.
I climbed the marble steps to the witness platform, each movement measured. The arena opened below, sand bright under the sun, old blood dark in places no amount of ritual washing ever fully erased. Across from my seat, House Hades’ place had been marked in black and silver.
My breath stopped.
A harpy stood near it, armor dark, wings folded with lethal control, chin lifted, still as a blade waiting to be drawn. I couldn’t see her eyes from where I stood, but I knew them anyway—golden-brown.
