Her eyes were cold, diamond-blue mirrors.
She looked exactly like the Grace Sterling on the billboards. But she was holding a heavy, black-iron scepter that pulsed with a rhythmic, blue light.
"The Ninety-Day Clause is officially over," the woman said. Her voice was a perfect, high-fidelity replica of my own.
She pointed the scepter at Ethan.
"Unit 7," she commanded. "Initialize the Scorched Earth Protocol. Eliminate the corrupted hardware."
Ethan stood up. He didn't look at me. He didn't look at the baby.
