I looked up at him and cringed with how his raised eyebrow with his tight smile looked more mocking than friendly and joking. The internal battle took a horrible turn when I picked up the pen and pushed my power through it so I could magically sign and seal it. I quickly signed the first page ignoring the way my gut churned. The page went from white to gold instantly telling me that it was sealed until it was revised. The tingling in my hand had me looking up. Whenever Mazaya got that something bad happened. "You have to sign all the pages." Alexander chuckled. My cheeks went bright pink with his playful attitude.

My lips stung as I swiped a tongue across my bottom lip. "Is there anything you need, Renee?" She dumbly nodded, gripping the file tightly in between her hands. "Uh...I wanted your signature on this document. I can come back later if you want." "No!" I said a little too louder. "I mean, hand me the file. I'll sign it now." My fingers trembled as I held the pen, breathing shakily. The Alphas eyes bore into my side as I signed the paper. "Here!"

I said while weeping. He kneels and makes me look at him holding my chin with his index finger. "Then sign it," He said, handing me the papers. I held the pen but I couldn't gather the courage to sign them. My hands were trembling. "Be hurry or else you will find her dead body in an hour" His fierce voice made my heartbeat stop and my breath got stuck in my throat. I immediately signed it and passed it to him. He looked at the papers and left not before giving me his evil smirk.

She just grabbed it and then, signed it quickly. After signing, he quickly grabbed the papers away from her and kept it in the shelf. He was happy getting the contract paper. Why wouldn’t he ? After all now, he has got his prey, his sacrifice. He returned back to his seat and then, gestured her with his finger to get out of his room. She looked all confused and all puzzled. The series of questionaires were written on her face.

“All right. If everything is written down, I’ll sign it.” Nathaniel set down the pen, his eyes fixed on her with intensity. “Understand this, Madeline. Once you sign, there is no turning back.” Madeline met his stare. Her eyes were filled with doubt, but within them flickered a new spark of courage. “I understand.” Nathaniel handed her the pen. Her fingers trembled as she took it, then with a heavy breath, she signed her name on the paper. Nathaniel added his signature as well.

It looks strange for the first time. I’m using the same signature that I’ve been using since Eli, and I was married, but it seems unfamiliar now. Silas signs the contract and puts it in the safe. He makes sure that I have the code for his safe should I ever need it, and then an awkward silence falls between us.

Opens the folder, finds the signature line, and signs, not fast, not slow, just certain. The pen lifts. The paper sits there with his name on it. The biggest choice he will ever make, written in blue ink on a dead woman's form in a parked car outside a bank while the city moves past without noticing. He sets the pen down, then looks at me. "Now what?"

“Well?” I look over. “Well what?” “Sign it before they come to their senses.” I snort, but still, my finger hovers over the digital document for a second before I finally tap my signature into place. Skylar Johnson. Done, that’s all it takes. One signature and suddenly my life has a new zip code. I stare at the confirmation screen for a second, trying to absorb the reality of what I’ve just done.
