Sing Through the Pain
Maybe my tone was too harsh, because she suddenly panicked.
"I-I'm sorry. Please don't send me away. I'll be more careful next time."
She lowered her head, looking hurt.
I softened immediately, opening my mouth to say something, but all I could do was sigh deeply.
As I sat on the living room couch, my phone rang again—it was a friend.
As we talked, the subject turned back to Nancy and Keith.
"Keith is such a joke—he's the other man, but he thinks everyone else is the other man too," my friend teased.
