Gwen grumbled, shoving the golden comb into the bottom drawer of her wardrobe, burying it under a pile of discarded odds and ends. Unbeknownst to Gwen, the golden comb began to emit a soft, shimmering glow amidst Hans's old junk—a glowing mark of an unfinished bond of ownership.

"Good girl. Let's get back to studying." Gwen skipped all the way back to the study very happy that her father's dream had finally come true. She would no longer see that defeated look in his eyes anymore. She got to the study and paused by the table to wait for Alexa who was yet to come in then she went to the window and looked out smiling when she thought about the fun that'd come later but her smile faded as she began to feel lightheaded and though she tried to hold on to something but she found herself falling to the ground and the last thing she heard was Alexa calling her name.

They were on Aquamarine. “You’re not touching her.” Gwen stepped closer, flickering between woman and monster, her shadow crawling across the stones. “Why?” she said softly, poison under her tongue. “She was mine in the first place.” I tried to lift my head, tried to move, but my body wouldn’t listen. My blood burned, clawing its way out. What was this witch doing to me?! Gwen stopped in front of Aquamarine, raising her hand, claws glinting black.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, another line of elegant script appeared on the page. It read: “Clue 1: Find me at the bottom of the spider queen’s glass, though do beware she can be quite crass.” No. No, absolutely not. Even as I shook my head, fighting to erase the words now etched into my consciousness, I couldn’t ignore the truth. My first clue was with the spider queen: Aranea, Goddess of Arachnids. Draco snarled loudly enough to send those nearest to us skittering back. He ran his fingers through his frosted hair and exhaled through his teeth.

Gwen gasps, but when nothing happens, she doubles over in guffaws so loud and obnoxious sounding that the wolves whine and back away. "You're not only a frail human, but you're stupid as fuck too." She snorts out a laugh. She steps back and the statue grazes her back. A twisted expression clouds her face and I thrust my hand onto her ankle, repeating my words. It was not alone, several werewolves leaped out, staggering, and started to run across the yard, only to be brought down shrieking by Mercy and Verina. Fine silken strands drifted out the open window. Meguitte reached out a hand and several wrapped around her fingers. Tiny spiders dangled from the silk. “Interesting,” Meguitte extended her hand and blew across her palm, dislodging them to drift out over the garden. The sunlight caught in hundreds of tiny sailors setting out into the great wide world. “Spider rain.” “Ah, Meguitte, my dear,” Connery called from within, his tone deliberately casual, but the tension beneath making a lie of it.

Stella abruptly lifted her head, still staring at him. As if the atmosphere froze over, there was a dead silence that lasted a few seconds… Then, she slowly closed her eyes. She had said all that she could, and no more words could change the results. Her heart went numb with pain and she couldn’t even feel her blood flowing anymore. As if sharp claws had taken a swipe at her chest, leaving a huge bloodied hole, she felt cold and was in pain. Before she could recover from this excruciating pain, she heard Weston’s low and bitter voice say, “I choose Gwen… She’s afraid of heights.”

Gronta glanced his eyes at Matthew for a second. "Hmm, I suppose you're right. We may need to have a proper discussion about this." Guinevere spoke as if she was siding with Gronta, but her very light smile said otherwise. "By the way, I noticed a certain familiar spider in the group. Do you remember me, Theraphosa Arachne?" Almost everyone was surprised to hear Guinevere mentioned that name. None of them had thought that the elf queen and Theraphosa knew each other. "Of course, your highness.” Theraphosa said while bowing her head.

I grabbed my bag and stood up. But just as I was about to leave, Jenny's phone dinged again. She read the message and her eyes widened. "Wait, there's... another opportunity, Miss." I arched a brow. "What is it?" Jenny looked up. "Grayford Creations just reached out. They want a collaboration with Jim Summerbell, Miss Gwen." I blinked, then turned fully to her. "The Grayford Creations fashion house?" She nodded. "Yes. And here's the catch, it was Mr. Lucas Grayford who reached out and emailed our company."

Gwen's POV. ~~~~ My eyes fluttered open, but I was met only by darkness. A sense of alarm rose within me as I realized a cloth was secured over my face. I attempted to scream, but the fabric moved in unison with my lips. Panic settled in as my muffled cries were silenced by an unseen force. Straining to pick up any clues, the sound of approaching footsteps came into my ears. My chest tightened; I had been kidnapped. I mulled into my head, trying to connect with my wolf, but she wasn't responding, and it only meant one thing: I was tied with a silver chain.
