Night Flower

Night Flower

It was a tell. I was counting on Reineck to read my consistency as exactly that, the consistency of a practiced liar holding a prepared story, and to keep looking for the hole that wasn't there. Give people the thing they expect to find and they will keep looking for it rather than looking for something else. It was one of the oldest principles in fieldwork and it worked because people trusted their own pattern recognition more than they questioned it. The thirty-six hour window came and went on the second day.

Our Story: Harvey's Life

Our Story: Harvey's Life

"People don't fall in love at cemeteries." "Well excuse me for being cautious," he scoffed and kept his eyes on the road. "Where are we going?" She asked. "I don't know, I'm just driving," he replied with a carefree attitude. "You said your company was having problems last night, is that why you're avoiding going to work?" He looked at her, his eyes glistening. "I knew I liked you for a reason." "Well, what is it?" "We were supposed to launch a new idea or concept this week but I found out another company stole our idea. We have absolutely nothing to offer and our investors are demanding we refund them." He sighed.

The Vampire's Flower

The Vampire's Flower

The First Vampire spoke and it was the first time I saw him smile as he stared at the empty wall at the other end of the hallway. "Elnea?" Curiosity sparked inside me upon hearing the name of a flower I've never heard of before. My question made The First Vampire chuckle. "Have you seen a sword, a fairy and a flower on the flag of Eleneas? What do you call it?" "Yea? It's a lily? What about it?"

letters that staved

letters that staved

“Sometimes, love writes chapters we don’t expect. Even if we read them late.” Back in his studio, Yam opened Franc’s latest message: 🌻 The sunflower on the wall started wilting. I tried to repaint it. But maybe it’s a reminder that even beauty fades if it’s not nurtured. Yam stared at the screen. Then replied: 💬 I’ll bring the water. We’ll plant more. Sunflowers with stronger roots this time. Franc sent back: 🪴 I’ll prep the soil. That night, Yam finally wrote his final residency piece.

Bloodbound: The legacy of Serelai

Bloodbound: The legacy of Serelai

But their purpose was etched into the soul of the civilization. On a world orbiting a blue star, in a small village, a child was crying. Her name was Lira, and her prized possession, a flower that glowed with soft blue light, was wilting. No matter how much she watered it, its light was fading. An old man, a traveling storyteller, saw her tears. He sat beside her on the grass. He didn’t have any special tools. He had kind eyes and a voice that sounded like the wind in the trees.

Sunflowers Uprooted, Love Dissected

Sunflowers Uprooted, Love Dissected

“When you were staying with our family, I used to wonder when I’d finally get the chance to take good care of a sunflower of my own. I’ve had the means for a long time, but I kept hesitating, letting its season pass me by again and again. Now that you’re here, I finally have the courage to try and nurture one. Tell me, do you think it’s too late?” Noah spoke as if he were talking about the flowers, yet he kept his gaze fixed on me the whole time. He was even holding his breath as he waited for my answer. However, I could not give him an answer at that moment. I did not want to be kept, caged, or loved in a way that felt like chains. So I only smiled and helped water the plants. I figured, ju

The Immortal Emperor Returns

The Immortal Emperor Returns

Now the earth was full of strange things, so Qiu Yunping's example was not strange at all. "Well, everyone, hurry up and bid for this sunflower... Uh, no, it's the Shengyang Sunflower." Qiu Yunping walked back and sat down. He looked at Chu Xun and asked, "Do you think that the Shengyang Sunflower looks like the mutated sunflowers in my backyard?" "You're right, Young Master," Chu Xun said, peering at the Shengyang Flower at auction, "there's something I forgot to tell you, Young Master. Two of our mutated sunflowers were lost a few days ago. Someone had stolen them."

My husband says that he loves me

My husband says that he loves me

And then what? Erwin Wilson propped his chin, trying to recall what he had read. Compilation Of Short Stories

Compilation Of Short Stories

There was one solitary, big book on a low table between them. "The title of the tale is The Binding of Autumn," he began, his voice an entrancing whisper just in harmony with the shriek of the fire. “It's the tale of a harvest god who offers a mortal woman a choice: one night of absolute freedom for one year of unimaginable riches for her people." He didn't move as his eyes met hers. "The consent is the matter at hand. It must be freely bestowed, not coerced, and whispered three times into the skin of his throat." “Do you have any idea what sort of story you're going to be reading me tonight?”
