Thalia’s POV The river waited for me like a beast holding its breath. It was stretched wide and endless, cloaked in silver mist and shadows that moved too slowly with the wind. Rocks jutted from the banks like broken teeth, and the water beneath was dark. Not clear. Not blue, Just…dark. The kind of dark that felt sentient. The Devil’s Cleft. That’s what Rorik called it. He mentioned that the river was cursed. It held strange creatures and danger seemed to make it his abode.

Only a breath, only for now. The river whispered one final word: Remember. Then stilled, its surface as calm as death. At dawn, the valley’s edges stirred with uneasy portent. Farmers watched their reflection ripple in puddles, only to see eyes blink where none should have been. Witches peered into scrying bowls and saw not futures, but drowned souls peering back. I started the journey, I walked for two hours, and I wasn’t scared as I had my sword, my backpack and myself. I got to the river. I was thinking of sleeping there but then I started hearing voices and it seemed like the cold night river. I have heard about that river and how it can be. It is a place where spirits roam but it is famous for the Tell Tale spirit. The Tell-Tale spirit is a spirit that appears to tell you your future and it is always bad, it rarely comes out though, it has been disregarded as one of those old stories.
