Zeke challenges Roman to yet another round of whatever they’re drinking. Kael accepts the challenge on behalf of Roman without consulting him. It completely devolves into glorious chaos from there.
Eventually, Kael manages to throw an arm around my shoulders—a gesture of pure, drunken affection—and leans in way too close to my ear.
“Did you know,” he whispers conspiratorially, his breath smelling heavily of strong liquor, “that wolves, due to an ancient magical imbalance, simply cannot get pregnant on a full moon?”
