That’s when I saw it, the change.
Alessandro’s eyes hardened, jaw tightening. He pulled a sleek blade from his coat, not fast, not flashy. No theatrics, just brutal purpose.
Then, in one fluid motion, he drove the blade through the man’s thigh.
The scream was sharp and short.
My hand flew to my mouth.
Alessandro crouched, gripping the man’s face with one gloved hand. “They’ll grow up fatherless because of your greed. That’s your legacy.”
Another movement. Another stab, this time across the hand, clean through.
The man passed out. And Alessandro stood, wiped the blade, and said to someone behind him. “Bury him where the dogs won’t dig.”
