“I am sorry, Sarah. For not trusting you to know what you were doing, and for scaring you like that. Another time I’ll try to remember to talk first. Is there anything I can do to make up for it?”
“You can do, not try,” Sarah says, and Timothy laughs, which Sarah seems fine with. She senses my confusion. “It’s a quote from a film. From a movie,” she explains, then glares at Timothy. “Shut up. They didn’t have a cinema and hardly watched any telly.”
“I didn’t say anything!” Timothy sounds wounded, but his expression says that the scolding was probably deserved. He goes back to a slightly earlier part of our conversation. “So… you could each tell if the other one was in danger?”
