The Legacy Elle Kennedy Novels & Stories

“Of course, Mrs Kelly. Talk to your husband. I am not here to cause trouble in your home. It's always a good thing for couples to have an amicable discussion before taking important steps in life. But also, Mrs Kelly when you do tell your husband, remind him that this isn’t just about modeling. It’s about legacy.” I nodded slowly, gripping my glass tighter, watching as his lips moved. “Legacy huh ? Legacy is a really big word, Mr Adrian. I’ll think about it.” He lifted his glass and raised it lightly. “That’s all I ask, Mrs Kelly, is it you to think about it carefully and discuss it immensely with your husband. Greatness waits for no one.”

"Do you know who owns this news outlet?" "A shell company," I said. "Venture capital." "No," Sarah said. She turned the tablet toward me. "It’s funded by a trust. The 'E.V. Legacy Trust.'" My heart stopped. E.V. Eleanor Vane. "My mother is dead," I said. "Is she?" Sarah asked. "Because the trust was activated an hour ago. From a secure location in the North Atlantic. And the first thing they did was buy the rights to this interview."

Evelyn replied smoothly, leaning forward with effortless grace to press a gentle, respectful kiss to the patriarch's weathered cheek. Lord Edward blinked, a rare, genuine flash of deep emotion softening his stern features. He reached out with his free hand, patting the top of her gloved fingers resting on his forearm. "My late wife, Eleanor, wore that exact diamond clip to our very first shareholder summit in nineteen-seventy," Lord Edward said softly, his voice carrying a quiet weight that made the surrounding executives fall completely silent. "She had the exact same stubborn, brilliant look in her eyes whenever I attempted to tell her how to manage the architectural division."

“Of course they are.” “You looked really handsome tonight.” She smiled, too sweet. “Our families trust us. They are looking up to us. We can't ruin this.” “It shouldn’t just be about what they want or think,” I muttered. Her eyes narrowed. “It is. You know it. You think you can put your stupid side chick above legacy? Above business? Above what our fathers have built?” She stepped closer, voice sharp. “Don’t fool yourself, Kennedy. You know exactly what’s expected of you, of us.”

“So… it’s not dangerous?” “No, my love,” Elara whispered, brushing a stray curl from her daughter’s cheek. “It’s miraculous. This child will change everything. That’s why Adrian gave it to you. It wasn’t a gift. It was a vow.” She looked at Nyma with eyes lit like the first light of dawn. “This baby is legacy. A turning point. And when the time comes, the world will see this child for what they truly are.” Nyma didn’t speak.

Stone pressed against him, his gray fur ruffled, the firedlight reflecting in his amber eyes, the clearing a sanctuary, the warmth a shared memory. The night deepened, the stars shining brightly above, the firelight crackling, the warmth of the clearing a sanctuary for their centennial celebration, the Dawn Pack’s legacy a radiant flame in the dark, their love a light that burned eternal, the Lunar Legacy a tale of victory, unity, and hope that echoed through the ages, carried forward by their descendants, the forest a timeless witness to their story.

And he had given her every reason to hate him. The TV above the bar flickered with the evening news— Lexi’s triumphant release out of prison and her upcoming trial again. She was supposed to be dead by now, because he knows more than anyone that Claudia had asked the prison wardens to kill her and of course, the prison warden had sent a corpse, which turned out to be fake. But Claudia and her daughter were so excited that they failed to check the corpse, to see who was really in there.

When I turn eighteen and leave the orphanage, I can give them all to him at once. I hide the notebook in a crack between the cabinets and use a plastic ruler to retrieve it. I just got it out, but before I can hide it, Leya comes into the room. She's a normal girl and her butt isn't fat anymore; she's lost weight since we were ten. Leya doesn't know about the diary though, so I shove it under the mattress by the headboard and cover it with a pillow. Lucky, my talisman, sits next to my pillow. I know I can trust him.

By being real. By wearing red and drinking champagne and dancing to jazz. By refusing to let death diminish life. By being exactly what Evelyn taught us to be. Whole. Authentic. Perfectly imperfect. That's legacy. That's love. That's everything.

Stella felt her voice crack and paused to collect herself. "She and my father chose each other for forty years. Through corporate warfare and health crises and every difficulty life threw at them. And when my father's dementia took his memory, my mother chose him anyway. When he didn't remember who she was, she remembered for both of them." "That's the legacy she left us. Not the foundation or the money or even the lessons about ethics and accountability. The real legacy is knowing that love is a choice you make every single day." "Even when it's hard."
