DANIELLE'S P.O.V. The sea waves, unlike the turmoil in my mind, were calm and peaceful. They rolled slowly and crashed with their white caps cresting over and plunging back into the water, displaying the beauty of the sea from the shoreline on which I stood. I buried my bare feet deeper into the sand which was wet from the sea water and took in a deep breath of the fresh, salt tinged air before letting out a deep sigh.

Because she still believed this could end without ruin. “Keep your peace,” I whispered toward the horizon. “I’ll keep what’s left of the gods.” The sea roared its answer not approval, not denial, just sound. The wave in front of me split into three spiraling forms, coiling together before crashing back into the depths. Each impact shook the shore. Then it came the silence that always follows power. The kind that bends the world around it. "They’ll see you," the sea said softly. "They’ll think you’re a goddess again."

Chapter 6 – The Stranger’s Comfort (Darius’s Point of View) The sea had always been my refuge. Even before the world called me by a last name heavy with expectations, before the resort became more of a business than a home, I found peace in the constant rhythm of the waves. Today, though, the ocean brought no peace only echoes of a night I couldn’t forget. The morning sun reflected off the tide, glittering like fractured glass. My hands rested on the railing of the boardwalk that stretched from the resort into the sand, the wood still damp from last night’s rain. I tried to focus on the distant horizon, but my thoughts refused to obey.

Just two people, present and choosing, with the ocean in front of them and the light changing above and the whole open question of what came next belonging entirely to them. The sun continued its descent, painting its reflection across the surface of the water in the long and molten bands that moved with the waves without dissolving into them. I felt the freedom of it in my chest and my hands and the specific relaxation of my shoulders that meant I had stopped carrying something I had been carrying so long I had forgotten it was there. I sprinted to come beside him and then took in the surroundings before me. The moon was full and the darkness of the outside was brushed by its radiant light beams. Dark and tall trees looked even more intimidating but what caught my breath away was the sea that stretched in all directions, making one think that it was endless. The sky was clear and thus the reflection of the moon on the sea was as clear as a glistening glass. The palpitating pulse of the sea was steady and peaceful whereas the light waves that crashed into eachother, gavs birth to a symphony and rhythm that left me beguiled, and felt pleasant to ears.
