I could hear the footsteps approaching. The sound entered my ears like drums, making me flinch with every passing second. Sweat rolled down my forehead to my cheeks, making its way further down to my neck.

I squeezed myself further into the hard surface behind me while my eyes were fixed upon the little space between the door and the floor. The midget amount of light that was entering through that space wasn't enough to illuminate the tiny store room I was huddled in.

"Will you stop moving? You are endlessly poking me all over my front." Damien whisper yelled.

Yeah, it was not only me but also Damien, The Great, in that tiny storeroom. I was sitting with my back flushed against Damien's hard chest, that felt even harder than a wall's surface, with his both legs on either sides of me.

"What do you expect from me? We are currently in a life or death situation. My life is hanging on a loose thread man!" I whisper yelled back.

"You know what? You are insane! I thought that maybe you are intelligent or something with at least some common sense but I was entirely wrong!" He shot back while keeping his voice low.

"What? It is all your fault! I told you we shouldn't come here."

"Cressida! We are not in trouble." He emphasised on the word not.

"He is just a staff member in charged with the cleaning duty who was setting off to his room, my goodness! You pulled me along for no reason! How am I suppose to make you understand?"

"Whoever he is, he works here and could have seen us and then told someone superior and then we would have been punished and then my reputation would have been ruined and then I would have cried and...and......I would have gotten even more dark circles!"

Damien sighed heavily and started to stand up from the floor. It was dark and thus, I couldn't see his face but I knew he was more than angry and annoyed. Way a go Cressida!

"Get up, right NOW!" He gritted the words through his teeth.

Without wasting a further second, I stood up and dusted off the dust from my black T-shirt and black capri pants. Then I bent down to tight the laces of my black sneakers. I was dressed up in black, from head to toe. Who was to blame, we were on a 'mission'.

“Don’t even a utter a single word.”

These were the last words that he spoke after which he opened the door, gave a peak outside and once he was satisfied over the situation, made his way out of the room. I followed after him.

“My God, it was horribly hot inside.” I spoke but regret soon filled me.

“Stop shooting daggers with your gaze.” I said with my voice low and my eyes looking down on the floor we were walking on.

Suddenly, I found the floor really interesting thing to watch as it was much better to look at than Damien’s flaming gaze.

“I feel good for being the in charge here.” He smirked after which we soon stopped in front of a huge double door.

When I said huge, I actually meant enormous. We still had not exited our building and this door indicated that it was the only thing stopping us now. Damien unlocked the one side of the door and forcefully pulled it open. It was just that little space for the air from the outside to enter inside and oh God.

Shivers traveled through my spine. We both rushed outside and the door closed behind us with a little bang. As soon as we had stepped outside, the cold air embraced me from every part and the breeze made my ponytail dance with it. I closed my eyes and took in a long breath.

The smell of wet soil and the green trees engulfed my stiffed body and forced it into a relaxed state, one which I had not entered into since I woke up in this academy. Nature indeed is the magic wand itself to release one from tension and stress.

“If you are done, shall we keep moving?” Who else could be this arrogant? Damien.

I opened my eyes and found him already many feet ahead of me. I sprinted to come beside him and then took in the surroundings before me.

The moon was full and the darkness of the outside was brushed by its radiant light beams. Dark and tall trees looked even more intimidating but what caught my breath away was the sea that stretched in all directions, making one think that it was endless.

The sky was clear and thus the reflection of the moon on the sea was as clear as a glistening glass. The palpitating pulse of the sea was steady and peaceful whereas the light waves that crashed into eachother, gavs birth to a symphony and rhythm that left me beguiled, and felt pleasant to ears.

The building we were moving towards was located near the shore, giving me a chance to approach the sea and take a better look at the nature.

"That is the training centre and this one is the headquarters. "Damien pulled me out of my trance and then I noticed that we had approached our destination.

"It seems creepy."

"It does but that is to a advantage. People hardly dare to come here." He pulled out a set of keys hanging in a key chain. I squinted more closely and noticed that the key chain had a name written on it saying, 'Hannah'.

"You stole them from your mom." I mentioned.

"Are you asking or telling?" He asked as he tried the different keys into the dark oak wooden door's key hole.

I rolled my eyes.

"As a matter of fact, you are alone here with me, on my mercy so it would be a lot better if you just control that spicy personality of yours. Also, no I did not stole the keys from mom. Ahaa!" He exclaimed when the key fit in and we heard the click of the unlocking of the door.

"Then how did you get the keys?" I asked, ignoring what he had said in the beginning.

"Lord Higgins gave them. Before you ask more as such to why or whatever, he is like an older brother to me. I told him I wanted to come here for some research and he understood the keyword. Where is the torch?" He asked me and I pulled it out from the belt that was latched on my waist.

I gripped one in my hand while handed the other to Damien. The torches were producing enough light to light up the hallway. It had the same map and architecture but had even a darker theme with grey carpet and antique grey artifacts that were used to decorate, actually I shall say to give a haunting look.

After walking through corridors and corridors, climbing a set of stairs, we finally reached the library. It was so huge that my mouth was left open when I stared at it.

Although I was a position holder back at school but I abhorred reading books without any reason, like who reads endless pages for fun? At least, not me.

The smell of old books hit my nostrils as I trailed my hands on the spines of the books, reading out loud their titles.

"What are we exactly looking for?" I asked.

"Anything that you think would answer our questions. But remember, don't judge a book by its cover or title. At least try reading the content index or the summary at the back of the book cover."

"Thanks." I said with sarcasm lacing my voice tone.

It felt like ages, going through myriad books and reading their titles etc. in the dark. I heard Damien plopping on the floor with a loud sigh. I was about to give up as well but then something caught my eye.

The light from the torchlight reflected the title that was written in gold colour.

The thick book rested on a very high shelve and the title said, 'The Future'. It was very simple but I had a gut feeling that maybe it was exactly what we were looking for.

I kicked Damien on the floor and he let out a whimper. I smirked.

"Get your lazy ass up and help that book out. It think it got our answers."

"It is the 143rd time you are saying this. Trust me, I am going to kill you myself if it turns out to be wrong. Wait a second. You got the power of telekinesis, why don't pull it out your self?" He smirked, folded his arms and leaned on the table beside me.

"Seriously? I wish I could or I would have pulled you off this table and thrown you out in the sea! It is not the time! Get it out!"

Damien moved his head in the left to right direction directing a no. I sighed heavily and said, "Fine! I will try. So what am I suppose to do?"

"Look, just remember one thing. 'It is all about your intentions, not the actions.' Whatever motion you make, if you are not willing to move the book out of its place, you would not succeed. Your will must come out of your brain. And another important rule when learning to use your powers."

I listened to him intently while Damien's face was bathed with seriousness. I wish he could be like that all the time. Wait, what was I thinking?

"Never let your 'heart' take control. It will destroy you. Always keep your 'brain' running. That is the only way to keep yourself in control."

"I am sorry but I didn't get it." I asked confused. I wanted to make sure that the point I was thinking was what it actually meant.

"You remember when Mike died and your emotions went stronger? Well, we refer to every emotional feeling and action to heart. They took control over you and well, your powers went out of control. Anyways, now make your move. We don't have whole day!" He said glancing at his wrist watch.

I took in a deep breath and then looked at the book placed on the upper shelf. If the shelf wasn't too high, I would have taken it off effortlessly. There weren't even any chairs in the library, for God's sake! Who doesn't keep chairs with the tables?

Damien's words played in my mind like a film and I found myself shutting my eyes softly. I reminded myself that I never failed and neither would I this time. I can do this. For Mike. I thought to myself.

I brought the image of the book in my mind and then I felt something hot travelling through my mind to my arm and then into my hands, leaving my fingers tingling a bit. A shock of energy was felt within my body and I brought my hand up, towards the book.

And then, I felt like the air around my hands was becoming thick and as if I could feel and touch the energy waves around me, that are naked to our eye. I opened my eyes and afterwards, as if everything went to slow motion.

The book started vibrating at it's spot and softly slipped out of its place. It felt as if the book was a south pole of the magnet while my hand a north pole, attracting the book near to it. The book flowed slowly into the air, until landing neatly in my hands.

A sweat rolled down my forehead. When I realised I had actually done it, I smiled victoriously and looked at Damien. He was already looking at me with a smile and a look of proudness on his face.

"I did it!" I squeaked and jumped on Damien, engulfing him in a tight embrace. After I realised what I was doing, I pulled back and saw Damien smirking at me.

"Time for some answers." He snatched the book away from my hands, headed to the table and placed it firmly.

He opened the book and went through the content index. I found a chapter saying prophecy. I pointed at it and Damien gave me that look, 'seriously'?

"What? I want to know more. What Lady Hannah told us was simply that a person will come..."

"A girl to be exact." He interrupted.

"Okaaaay, whatever. And that she would not be able to handle her powers accurately and thus will bring a finish to the world. I mean the century old powers. This information is not enough."

"Okay." He sighed which he was doing a lot that day and went to that page number. Later, he began reading.

"The title endorsed for such a girl is 'Queen of the Magic Manipulation Powers.' Such a girl.....blah, blah and blah. Oh, this seems interesting." He left the mid part and moved to a section saying the Keystone Diamonds.

I instantly got alert as I remembered Mike saying this name in my dream.

"It says," Damien continued, "Under the light of the prophecy, the Queen will encounter few accidents with four such people that will be about to face death, but she will stop their deaths."

"This will be by her over growing emotions that will take control over her, making the nature go wild and then make the time stop." Damien looked at me and matched the same flabbergasted look that I had on my face.

"You mean if a bird is flying, it will be paused in that action?" I asked Damien.

"Yep." He said while popping the p.

"Continue." I said as I got even more interested and curious to know more.

"These four people will be collectively called the Keystone Diamonds. Their powers will become superior to the normal Diamonds because they were saved by the Queen; who did it by giving some new powers to them from her own body."

"Hmm, this means the Queen will certainly be a kind hearted person." Damien commented making me nod.

"Move to this chapter." I directed him.

"Which one? 'The Fate'?" He asked. I simply snatched the book from his hands since he was asking too many questions. Damien did not object and held the torchlight to an angle that made it easier to read. We both leaned even closer to eachother, if that was possible.

"A day will arrive when the tragic will hit and the most important decision regarding the fate of the Diamonds will be left at the hands of the Queen of the Magic Manipulation Powers."

"Two options will be left; whether to let every single person in every dimension i.e. even the Humans' Dimension have the powers, bringing equality but chaos and anarchy as well, or to wipe off the century old powers for ever."

"To bring an end, the matter shall be broached,

the century old spot shall be approached.

Where the leaves fall,

The water glistens,

Bells ring,

And the powers originate.

So that the magic may eliminate

And the pain may mitigate ."

"Okaaaay. Was that style of writing necessary?" Damien's warm breath tickled my right cheek and it was then when I noticed how close we were.

I scooted a little away and Damien noticed this, who too moved a little away, reluctantly, since his gaze when met mines, felt hurt. Maybe I was wrong.

"The phrase is trying to tell what that century old place is but one thing is clear. It is where the magic powers are created or I shall say born. But we might never be able to find it. God knows where in this huge dimension the place is." I cried as I shut the book.

"It is here." I popped my eyes at Damien.

"This is because all the century old spots are within this academy. The rest of the places created in this dimension were the part of the recent evolution. They were when my grandpa was the ruling elite. Thus, this is the only boundary to search within. If one wants to I shall add." He answered.

"Hmm. You do have a point. So you mean that there is a whole world outside this boundary and the sea?" I asked.

"Yep. Just like on earth. But everyone uses their magic powers for the day to day chores."

" I never got to ask, what are your powers?" I asked as the realisation hit me.

"Well..." Damien rubbed the nape of his neck and it felt like he was contemplating on something hard. Then his gaze met mines. I saw... guilt in his eyes?

"Come on." I urged him to tell me.

Just when he opened his mouth, the lights of the library switched on. We had to shut our eyes and when we opened, they took a while to adjust to the lights. Then it dawned on me.

"Damien, we need to run!" I held his hand and we both sprinted to the library door.

"I can hear so many footsteps approaching!" I whispered with my ear glued to the door.

"We need to hide. Come on!" Damien pulled me along him but something stopped us.

"Not so fast!"

We stopped dead in our tracks. We were so much screwed. Hell, I was so screwed.
