I’m here on their behalf.” He reached into the briefcase and brought out a white envelope sealed with a court stamp. “You’re being formally summoned.” I didn’t take the envelope. Not yet. “For what?” I asked. His tone was professional and too smooth, like he’d done this a thousand times.
