The girl I put through ten years of school stood up at her own graduation and thanked me in front of everyone. A second later, three translucent lines appeared in front of my eyes. [She will steal the Prescott family's trade secrets, start her own company, and turn on you.] [She will publish an essay and put the internet on your family. Your wife will die of a heart attack.] [Prescott Logistics will fold. The estate will go to auction. You will die in front of the men you owe.] I stared at her. "Vanessa. Have you spent all these years filing away everything we did for you as a reason to hate us?" She blinked at me, wide-eyed and innocent. That was when I understood. The snake was al

You really do not deserve to get a chance to live. "Now that I even think about it, is this how you want to become the lord of the underworld? By being this reckless?" "The first thing you will do is probably to expose the real dealings of the underworld to the outsiders. If you can do it with your little gangs of boys. You are likely to do that with the affairs of the underworld." "I would do way better than you Kieran." "The universe knew just how much of a terrible person you are. It knew you would be an even more terrible leader. Hence it skipped you."

The high-polished marble hallway echoed with the rhythmic tap of two sets of boot heels. Elara, known in the underworld as Elayne Duskmoor, led the way with her usual practiced elegance. Two of her personal guards flanked Jason. To Vanessa and her family, Jason was nothing more than a nobody, an insignificant waste of space, with no pedigree. But the underworld knew him differently. He was known to most in the underworld as Lucan Vale, the Ghost among shadows and the Eclipse Syndicate’s deadliest weapon.

They joined Damian and faced us. “We’ve arrived,” Vee said. “Now we’ll step through a portal again, this time right through Vexx’s wards and onto the building’s roof. We will take them by surprise.” “How is that possible?” Xavier asked the question that had to be on all our minds. Vee smiled. “Because the rules of earth don’t apply to the Underworld. A reaper can travel wherever he likes.” She motioned to Damian, and he opened another fire-rimmed portal. He, Vee, and Andre leapt through first.

I inched forward, drawn by something I couldn’t name, and peeked through the gap. Kael stood in the center of the stone courtyard. His long black hair was damp with sweat, stuck to his cheek. His green eyes burned like twin flames. And beneath him, a man lay writhing, snarling, blood trailing from his mouth. “Speak.” Kael growled, his voice so low it vibrated through the air. The man spat blood. “You’ll get nothing from me.” Kael laughed as though the man had said the funniest thing. "I had hoped you won't speak so I'd be able to have a good time. You see, these days I have a lot of unreleased tension. "

He let the blade fall again, it hit the stone with a clatter that echoed in the silence. Then he sank to his knees, the pack watched him. Watched the son of their tyrant, broken and empty, kneeling in his father's blood. No one moved to help him, nor did anyone move to hurt him. They just watched, waiting, unsure what came next. I looked at Rafe, at my mother, still gripping my hand. At Zayne, his knives finally sheathed, at Morwen, swaying on her staff, barely standing but still there. The storm had passed, but the wreckage remained. And somewhere, in the deep places beneath the world, something ancient and hungry stirred in its sleep.

he asked. Killian lifted an eyebrow, unfazed. “Why does it matter? If you’re planning to kill me, go ahead.” He straightened his posture from the wall. The leader smirked slowly. “I like your nerves. Do you even know who you’re speaking to?” Killian’s dead eyes met the man’s, uninterested, until the elder extended his hand for a shake. “Albert Davis. Ruler of the underworld.” he introduced himself. Killian didn’t need long to understand the meaning behind the title. He had heard of the Mafias. Underworlds. But he remained unmoved. Albert chuckled again and withdrew his hand, amused by the lack of reaction.

Hi everyone! In the interest of not taking away from the dialogue for excessive world-building, I made an index with the rules of this universe. In terms of Gods/Goddesses, I follow Greek mythology, but I’ve also taken pieces from different folklore and added my own twist. Underworld (There are a few realms/subrealms here, so if there's any confusion, let me know, and I will clear it up). Any being in the underworld is immortal but can be killed by ripping its head off and burning the body. They all wield dark magic but have unique powers.

Thus, with a confident grin and a significant measure of trepidation, Scarlett initiated a perilous game of cat and mouse with Kristof, deep within the underbelly of the underworld. "So, how did you find yourself in this underworld, Kristof?" she inquired, as he guided their path, his gaze radiating warmth, though his thoughts were consumed by the anger he felt witnessing others attempting to assist Klaus in retrieving his brothers. "You should not have ventured here, Scarlett. It is a torment," he replied. "Klaus sends people into this abyss, fully aware that they are unlikely to survive." As they navigated the twisting passages of the underworld, the air became heavy with the odor of decay
