Gone for Good
"Take your time. What happened?"
George sat, took a deep breath, and said heavily, "It's Kendra. She was attacked."
My stomach dropped. My hand curled into a tight fist. "When?"
"Yesterday, on the road leading to the base. She's at the hospital now," George replied.
I grabbed my coat and bolted out the door. I drove like a madman toward the hospital, my heart pounding in my chest. When I arrived, Kendra had already lost all vital signs and was covered with a white sheet.
