“I was what was left of him.” Rael’s breath caught. “The Hollow Crown… it turned you into this.” Vame nodded. “And if you continue down this path, it will do the same to you.” No one spoke. Then the ground trembled. The Hollowed One Rises A deep, resonant groan echoed from beneath them. The ground split as something rose from the rock, a figure larger than any shadow before, its body a fusion of bone and rusted metal, eyes burning with the same crimson light that had pulsed in the ruins.

Behind him, Thane rose slowly too, his gaze burning. Then— The remnants of the tent’s torn flap burst wide open. And through it came figures emerging like warriors from legend—bloodied, snarling, glorious. Their eyes glinted, clothes torn, weapons slick with gore. At their center was a towering presence with copper-threaded black hair and cold gray eyes—Alpha Cochram. Beside him, a younger but scarred figure brandished a twin-headed axe—Alpha Cormac. Alpha Hijar, grim-faced and wounded, had a bow ready in his hands. Then came Alpha Billam, his white cloak splattered with red, face alight with fury.

“He told us about your memory, lack of it as he put it. He said that it was fragmented and you were still recovering.” Of course he did, I thought, letting out a sigh of relief. Varic definitely had it all covered. This small but brilliant lie was the only way I could pull this act without anyone suspecting me of being a fake. “Did I know you?” I asked as innocently as I could. I needed to figure out who he really was without deepening any suspicion he already had. The man gleamed. The side of his lip shifting upward as he bowed again. “I am Gerald Greythorne, council advisor and blood brother to the Alpha’s late father. Loyal subject to Bloodmoon…and of course, most loyal to our Queen.”

The circle flared black and violet, twisting, alive. From the darkness, a whisper rose: Nex umbraa, kai vel’thra… ix shael. Kai’thai kharuun… kai’thra kai’thai. From shadow, I awaken… I am hers. I am warrior… I am and I become. Then it appeared. Not a simple crow, but something older, warped. Its wings were tattered starlight. Its eyes burned like molten amethyst. It landed on her shoulder. Claiming her. Marking her.

It felt right in my hands. Balanced. Alive. When I turned back to Prince Liam, he nodded once— approving, but guarded. “Good,” he said. “You’ll need something with reach.” “…Reach for what?” I asked. But I didn’t have long to wonder. Because the heavy doors opened again. ** General Greybone entered the space with slow, deliberate steps—his cloak trailing behind him like spilled ink. His sharp silver eyes swept the courtyard and then settled on me. “Combatant Varyn,” he said, voice cool. “As dusk progresses, your true assessment begins.”

"He's going to hunt me... he won't stop..." "No." Cael held her face with both hands. "He is not going to hunt you. Because now he'll have to go through me. And I am not like the others he terrorized. I am Cael Blackthorn. Alpha of the Ironfangs. And if he crosses that border, I will rip his heart out with my own claws." Aurora was breathing with difficulty, but gradually Cael's presence calmed her. Her heartbeat slowed. She clung to him as if to a safe harbor.

a deep, guttural voice rumbled from the shadows. Thorne stepped into the light of the Grove. He was covered in the black, oily blood of the Raven Guard, his fur matted and scorched. He looked older than he had a few hours ago, the weight of the defense etched into the lines of his face. He walked over to me and lowered his head, a sign of respect that felt hollow in the face of my grief.

The Greymaw Seer The Greymaw seer's name was Tessaly, and she arrived at Blackmoor's gate three weeks after the territorial council adjournment with a single escort and the particular manner of someone who had decided a thing and was acting on it before she had time to reconsider.

It was a wolf with its throat torn open, a crown of thorns resting on its head. "The Forsaken," Hala whispered, her eyes wide. "They were the ones Silas exiled to the dead-lands. The 'monsters' he couldn't break." "They're serving the new Alpha," I noted, watching the discipline of their march. These weren't feral rogues; they were an army. Suddenly, the wind shifted. One of the warriors stopped. He didn't look up; he sniffed the air, his nostrils flaring. He turned toward our ridge, and for a split second, I saw his eyes. They weren't brown or gold. They were a dull, light-drinking grey.

Has she cast a spell on you? Relax! Stop! Pleaded Cory, putting her palms up. I’m fine. I just… She trailed off, unsure of how to explain what had happened. That Stormbringer over there, she said, nodding to the ash brown one who was a few yards away. He’s the one with green eyes and brown hair. He’s some kind of leader over the others and he…he helped us, remember? He knocked into one of the other beasts before it could pounce one me, she reminded Hayden.
